Employees increasingly value an equal, diverse and inclusive working environment. |
Discussing the issue of gender equality in industrial zones, Ms. Ha Thu Thanh, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Business Network supporting the development of women's empowerment, said: "When it comes to gender equality, people often subconsciously think that this is a matter for the Government and social organizations. In fact, businesses in the region have been doing a lot of work and values to move towards gender equality. In the context of the continuous development of the female business community over the past 15 years, the proportion of female leaders at the middle and senior levels in corporations and companies has also increased."
The results of the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Benchmark Survey by PwC - one of the world's top four auditing firms - show that about 75% of more than 450 organizations in the Asia-Pacific region agree that D&I is a top priority value.
Workers increasingly value an equal, diverse and inclusive working environment. Therefore, building gender equality policies in the workplace and empowering women workers, especially in industrial zones, is becoming an important goal.
According to Ms. Ha Thu Thanh, the true role of women will be promoted when they participate, contribute and are recognized for the development of many businesses. At this time, their talents and contributions will be recognized and their opportunities for advancement will be equal.
With the goal of promoting gender equality and sustainable development in the working environment, the Vietnam Business Network for Women's Empowerment (VBCWE) in collaboration with Shinec Joint Stock Company organized the Workshop "Empowering female workers in enterprises in industrial parks - creating social values in ESG" on May 27 at Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park, Hai Phong .
The workshop was organized to connect business leaders in the industrial park, share experiences and effective strategies to build a green, fair environment and raise awareness of gender equality in the workplace. From there, convert this awareness into specific action programs to increase the power of female workers.
Assessing the significance of building an equal environment in industrial zones, Ms. Cherie Russell, Development Counselor, Australian Embassy in Vietnam, shared that the private economic sector doing well on this issue will contribute to continuing to shape a greener, fairer and more inclusive Vietnam. Because doing these things is the right thing for the region, and at the same time brings benefits to businesses.
At the event, policies to support female workers and promote the role of trade unions in creating a diverse, equitable and integrated working environment were also discussed. This was an opportunity for businesses to exchange and learn methods to enhance the empowerment of female workers in industrial zones.
Mr. Pham Hong Diep, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shinec Joint Stock Company, said: “For the company, sustainable development not only focuses on economic progress and environmental protection but also strives to promote gender equality in the workplace. To perfect the sustainable development model, the company has effectively applied policies on diversity, equality and inclusion, supporting female workers in Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park.”
