Improve the quality of training in colleges and vocational schools

Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan shared the difficulties in operations and hoped that the collective of Ca Mau Community College would unite to overcome difficulties and improve training quality.

Currently, Ca Mau Community College is implementing the content of consulting on building technical economic norms for 15 majors, including 9 colleges, 6 intermediate levels, and the majors have been assigned industry codes.

The school has 140 quotas for various professions, continuing training in 2023; 110 new quotas for weaving, coordinating with localities to complete the application for opening classes, expected to open in the period from July to August after the regular classes of the 2022-2023 school year end. It is expected that the school will complete 100% of these quotas from July to November.

The school representative also raised many difficulties such as: The main office has been invested and used at full capacity for a long time, so it has degraded to a certain extent, although it has been invested in annual repair costs; the temporary building with 6 working rooms has degraded, the minimum basic activities are affected such as: rain leaks, water overflow; additional equipment to carry out vocational training is somewhat lacking, greatly affecting the quality of teaching and learning...

Master Pham Huu Truong, Head of the Department of English, Information Technology and Tourism, informed about the department's activities at the meeting.

Appreciating the training results and human resources of the school, and sharing the difficulties of the school, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan hopes that the school will unite to overcome the current difficulties, further improve the quality of teaching and learning, and meet the needs of the new period. The school's teaching staff and lecturers need to strengthen scientific research work, and there must be more scientific topics at the provincial and national levels.

At the Vietnam - Korea Vocational College in Ca Mau, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan hopes that the school will continue to invest in building facilities as well as training human resources to ensure quality, meet standards, and exceed standards, developing into a key vocational training school that not only serves the vocational training needs in the province but also in the region.

The school's leadership representative informed that compared to when it was first established, the number of students has increased 7-8 times. In the 2022-2023 school year, the school will train a total of 42 classes, with 1,274 students. Of which, Intermediate: 14 classes (399 students), College: 28 classes (875 students). Currently, the school is licensed to train 15 majors and professions.

The current difficulty of the school is: The job position project was approved by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 1244/QD-UBND dated July 20, 2016. Accordingly, the school has 51 employees (45 civil servants and 6 contracts), which over many years is no longer suitable for the actual situation of the unit. However, the new project has not been approved by the competent authority.

The school faces many difficulties in terms of facilities and teaching equipment such as: Classrooms and practice workshops are seriously lacking; professional equipment and machinery are lacking, outdated, degraded and damaged due to many years of lack of investment and new purchases (purchased since 2015). Revenue from career and service activities is low, while training costs are high, so there is no source to invest in career development as well as improve the lives of staff, civil servants and lecturers.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Luan suggested that the school should quickly implement the following contents: Develop a project to invest in facilities and equipment; develop a project to organize the apparatus and a project to create jobs. Urgently have a plan for new training, advanced and specialized training for the human resources to ensure quantity and quality./.
