Enhancing the value of "made in Ha Tinh" products from 4-star OCOP standards

(Baohatinh.vn) - Achieving 4-star OCOP certification not only affirms the brand and product quality but also creates conditions for Ha Tinh establishments and businesses to expand their markets and improve their competitiveness.

Huong Son Agriculture Joint Stock Company (Kim Hoa commune) is one of the top enterprises in the province that has achieved 4-star OCOP standards since 2019 with its powdered deer product line. With the desire to "raise the level" of the value of the hometown deer antlers, in recent years the company has continued to invest in machinery, apply deep processing technology and expand the consumption market.

Recently, the Provincial OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council conducted a field inspection of the Chien Son deer antler wine product of the enterprise to consider and propose a 4-star OCOP classification in 2025.

Mr. Tran Dinh Chien - Director of Huong Son Agriculture Joint Stock Company said: “The product recognized as meeting 4-star OCOP standards is not only a "passport" that helps the company easily access large markets, but also a clear commitment to quality, safety and traceability, opening up opportunities to promote the province's specialty brands. And thanks to the stable consumption market, businesses have the conditions to reinvest in expanding production, upgrading processing lines to achieve higher levels of refinement, and increasing the nutritional value of products.

Currently, each year, the company has purchased over 1.5 tons of fresh velvet; signed contracts to purchase deer velvet with a number of farms and hundreds of households in the district. At the same time, it provides technical support, breeding animals and guidance on care processes to ensure stable quality of fresh velvet, gradually expanding and standardizing raw material areas for deep processing.

For generations, traditional fish sauce processing facilities have kept their own unique flavor, crystallized from fresh ingredients and the secrets of each craft village.

In recent years, the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) Program has motivated establishments to boldly invest in machinery and improve packaging and branding to bring local specialties further into the market. Fish sauce is also one of the product groups with the most brands meeting the 4-star OCOP standard in the province, further affirming the value and competitiveness of local specialties in the market.

Nhat Ninh fish sauce product with 4-star OCOP standard has helped the facility to increasingly develop the market.

Ms. Nguyen Thi My Ngoc - representative of Nhat Ninh Fish Sauce Processing Facility (Hai Ninh Ward) said: "Nhat Ninh fish sauce products have met 4-star OCOP standards since 2022. Since then, the facility has continued to invest in diversifying product sizes, improving designs - packaging, registering trademarks, logos, barcodes, QR codes and expanding the consumption market, increasing consumption output to over 40,000 liters/year. After the deadline, this year we completed the documents to be recognized as 4-star OCOP products again and see this as an opportunity to continue developing the brand value of the facility."

Nowadays, consumers are increasingly interested in products that meet quality standards, have clear origins and are produced according to safe processes. This is also the reason why many establishments have boldly invested and improved processes to meet market demand. An An Incense Establishment (Tung Loc Commune) is actively standardizing processes, investing in production lines and improving designs to achieve 4-star OCOP standards with Diep Incense products.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Phuong - the owner of the facility said: "To achieve the 4-star OCOP standard, the unit must meet additional strict criteria related to production techniques, factory scale and conditions, brand recognition system as well as stable production capacity to meet the quantity when expanding the market.

Therefore, the facility is forced to proactively invest in upgrading, perfecting the process, and developing production capacity. We have invested hundreds of millions of VND to purchase processing equipment such as high-quality automatic incense making machines, incense cone making machines, etc., complying with the "5 no" production process including no chemicals, no impurities, no flammable substances, no flavorings, no colorants. At the same time, we also make every effort to use raw materials originating in Ha Tinh to increase cleanliness, safety, and maintain product identity."

Investing in modern machinery systems is an important condition for OCOP facilities to continue improving their products.

It can be seen that products meeting 4-star OCOP standards not only open up opportunities to affirm the Ha Tinh specialty brand in the market but also create a foundation for building sustainable value chains. However, currently the whole province has only 8 4-star OCOP products out of a total of 272 valid OCOP products. This number shows that there is still a lot of room for development and product upgrading, at the same time requiring entities to proactively innovate, invest more systematically in technology, standardize processes and strengthen linkages to meet the increasing demands of the market.

Mr. Ngo Dinh Long - Deputy Head of the Office of New Rural Development Coordination of Ha Tinh province said: "In the coming time, to develop OCOP products, the province will continue to focus on perfecting mechanisms and policies to support production - deep processing; encourage the application of advanced technology, digital transformation in production and consumption. In addition, the province aims to promote trade promotion, product promotion; promote green OCOP models, digital OCOP, OCOP associated with experiential tourism . At the same time, the Office of New Rural Development Coordination will accompany and support the subjects to complete the dossier, upgrade the standards towards achieving 4-star OCOP, 5-star OCOP standards".
