From early morning, a large number of people and tourists flocked to Na Ka plum valley, Co Do ward, Moc Chau town to participate in the festival. Attending the festival were comrades: Hoang Van Chat, former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, former Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Dinh Thi Bich Thao, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department; Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches and representatives of Tay Ninh province's leaders, along with a large number of people and tourists.
After more than 30 years of taking root and growing on the Moc Chau plateau, plum trees have become a key product, helping many households in the area to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty. Currently, Moc Chau has nearly 3,500 hectares of plum trees planted and cared for according to VietGap standards, a safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly organic production process. Products processed from Moc Chau plums are increasingly known to domestic tourists and international friends.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Vice Chairman of Moc Chau Town People's Committee, informed: This year, the festival's activities continue to honor the value of plums and exchange the cultural identities of ethnic groups. Through the festival, Moc Chau wishes to introduce and promote to domestic and international consumers the superior quality of Moc Chau plums compared to plums grown in other localities because of their crispness, sweetness, aroma and especially safe agricultural products that are good for health. At the same time, send the message: Safe agricultural production, say no to herbicides and pesticides, contribute to the restoration and maintenance of sustainable natural ecosystems, protect the environment and human health.
After the special art program and awarding of the contests: Composing songs about Moc Chau; searching for KOL faces for Moc Chau tourism in 2025, the delegates and tourists joined the fruit picking competition. Among the plum gardens full of fruit, the farmers brought an impressive performance, confidently showing their skills and experience to pick the most plums within 5 minutes. At the end of the competition, the team from Muong Sang ward picked the most plums with a quantity of 85kg.
Ms. Ha Thi Khiet, a member of the fruit picking team in Muong Sang Ward, shared: Each member of our team has 1-2 hectares of plums, so picking plums is a daily habit when the plum season comes. In order to pick quickly, the members must be quick-handed and quick-eyed to choose the biggest and most beautiful plums according to the standards.
Not only stopping at the fruit picking competition, Moc Chau farmers also have the opportunity to show their ingenuity and creativity through the shaping competition, presenting fruit trays and introducing and promoting plum products along with the land and people of Moc Chau, bringing beautiful works of art. The fruit trays are arranged elaborately and beautifully, carrying the message of a rich, friendly and hospitable Moc Chau. The plum eating competition attracts the curiosity of many people when the contestants have to show the appeal when eating plums, not leaving too much flesh on the seeds.
The atmosphere of the festival became even more exciting when visitors directly participated in ethnic sports , traditional folk games such as tug of war, stick pushing. Many attractive competitions were also organized specifically for the audience such as plum tasting competition, crossbow shooting competition, attracting enthusiastic participation of all ages. In addition, booths displaying and introducing typical products of Moc Chau, from agricultural products, medicinal herbs to unique ethnic cuisines of ethnic minorities and diverse products made from plums, created a rich cultural and commercial space. All blended together to create a truly vibrant festival, bringing interesting, unforgettable experiences and leaving deep impressions in the hearts of delegates and visitors from near and far.
Ms. Nguyen Khanh Huyen, a tourist from Hanoi, excitedly shared: Since we learned about the plum picking festival in Moc Chau district, we have been very excited, prepared and looked forward to booking a trip to Moc Chau 1 month ago. Coming here today, immersing ourselves in the atmosphere of the festival, seeing with our own eyes the ancient plum trees, laden with fruit, enjoying the fresh plums in the garden; learning about the cultural space of ethnic groups through the booths helped us have interesting experiences.
In particular, this year, at the festival, for the first time, Moc Chau town organized an agricultural fashion show and a national costume show, combined with the introduction of typical agricultural products and OCOP products, bringing domestic and foreign tourists interesting and attractive stories about OCOP products of farmers on the Moc Chau plateau.
Ms. Ha Thu Uyen, Tan Yen commune said: Through the competitions, we want to introduce the beauty of ethnic culture and typical agricultural products and OCOP products of Moc Chau to tourists. We will continue to produce according to safety standards to create agricultural products of superior quality, safety and good for health.
