In an interview with Romanian TV channel Digi 24 , Geoana said: We should prepare for a long war. The end of the conflict will not come in 2024, it may even last until 2025.
NATO's Deputy Secretary General stressed, "Nowhere do we see the military capability to achieve a decisive victory one way or another. We predict the conflict will be prolonged with small attacks, counterattacks...".
According to the NATO official, the US Congress will continue to provide funding to Ukraine. He noted that Kiev's allies will have no problem with continuing to provide financial support to Ukraine.
At the July 2023 NATO Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, the alliance member states approved a long-term support program for Ukraine, specifically providing $500 million per year for the modernization of the Ukrainian military and its full transition to NATO standards. In addition, the member states agreed to simplify the process of Ukraine's accession to NATO.
