During his two-day working trip to present his credentials to Nepal on August 17-18, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to India, Nepal and Bhutan Nguyen Thanh Hai had meetings and discussions with leaders of the Party, State and businesses of Nepal. Thereby, he conveyed the greetings of the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to the leadership of Nepal.
During a courtesy call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda), Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai shared Vietnam's achievements in socio -economic development after overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to and wishes to deepen and effectively develop the traditional cooperative and friendly relationship with Nepal.
Updating Vietnam's new e-visa policy, the Ambassador said that this is an opportunity to help increase tourism and economic cooperation between the two countries.
In addition, the Ambassador also requested that the authorities pay attention and create conditions for the Vietnamese community in Nepal (about 60 people) to integrate into the local society, contribute to building Nepal and promote cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Prime Minister Prachanda expressed his personal sentiments as well as those of the Government of Nepal and the Communist Party of Nepal Maoist Central Committee to Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh .
He emphasized that economic innovation in Vietnam as well as the adaptation of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the context of a constantly changing world is a model worth learning.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal hopes that economic, trade, investment and tourism cooperation between the two countries will make new strides, the most important of which is air connectivity.
He also shared about the Nepalese Government's efforts to reform and facilitate the business environment to attract foreign investors, including Vietnam.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Nepal supports Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification, and agreed that countries need to respect the UN Charter and each other's independence and sovereignty.
He emphasized that the East Sea issue needs to be resolved peacefully on the basis of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
During a meeting with Speaker of the Nepalese House of Representatives Dev Raj Ghimire, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai highly appreciated the role of parliamentary diplomacy in cooperation between the two countries, expressing Vietnam's desire to increase delegation exchanges and legislative experience exchange between the two parliaments.
Appreciating the importance of Vietnam, Speaker of the House of Representatives Ghimire affirmed his wish to further promote cooperation between the two countries' parliaments, while creating favorable conditions for the Nepalese Government to carry out cooperation activities with Vietnam.
Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal Unified Marxist Leninist KP Sharma Oli expressed his deep affection and admiration for President Ho Chi Minh and the revolutionary cause of Vietnam.
As a direct participant in the anti-Vietnam War movement in Nepal, both on the streets and from prison, Mr. KP Sharma Oli shared his emotional perspectives on the influence of President Ho Chi Minh on his vision and leadership style in particular and the revolutionary movement of Nepal in general.
He also expressed his admiration for Vietnam's strong economic development under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and wished to enhance the exchange of experiences between the Unified Marxist Leninist Communist Party of Nepal and the Communist Party of Vietnam on Party building and socio-economic development.
Nepalese Foreign Minister Narayan Prakash Saud appreciated Vietnam's implementation of the e-visa policy, which helps facilitate Nepalese people to travel to Vietnam.
He expressed his wish to increase delegation exchanges and contacts between leaders of the two countries on the sidelines of multilateral forums, and soon establish legal frameworks to promote aviation, trade and investment connectivity between the two countries.
The Minister also suggested that Vietnamese enterprises promote cooperation in areas where Vietnam has strengths and is suitable for Nepal's needs such as hydropower, infrastructure, telecommunications, industry, etc.
Sudanese Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Kirati expressed his hope that the two countries would take advantage of their close cultural and religious ties to promote cooperation "as high as Mount Everest and as deep as the East Sea".
Sudanese Minister Kirati especially emphasized the desire for Vietnam to launch direct flights between the two countries.
At the working session with Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Nepal Rajesh Kazi Shrestha, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai highly appreciated Mr. Shrestha's personal efforts in promoting Vietnam - Nepal relations in all fields, especially trade and tourism, and supporting Vietnamese people in Nepal.
The Honorary Consul also said that the demand for tourism in Vietnam among Nepalese people has recovered very quickly after the COVID-19 pandemic and the Nepalese market is also making efforts to diversify the supply of agricultural products, household appliances, electric cars, etc. instead of focusing only on traditional partners.
During the meeting and visit with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Nepal, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai expressed his joy and appreciation that the community representatives had taken the time, some of whom had traveled hundreds of kilometers to attend the meeting.
Ms. Kim Cuong, a community representative, said that the lives of 60 first and second generation Vietnamese people living scattered throughout Nepal are relatively stable and in harmony with local life thanks to the hospitality and friendliness of the locals.
Speaking at a business meeting organized by the Nepal-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NVCCI) with the participation of more than 60 members, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai introduced the destination of Vietnam as well as opportunities for economic, trade and investment cooperation.
Mr. Deepak Malhotra, Chairman of NVCCI, emphasized the urgency of establishing direct flights to meet the travel needs of Nepalese people to Vietnam as well as from Vietnam to other countries in the region.
Many Nepalese businesses also expressed their hope that the two sides would have more trade promotion activities to have more opportunities to learn about the market and meet the need to diversify supply sources.
