A Hollywood insider confirmed to People that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's multi-year production deal will not be renewed, reflecting a shift in Netflix's broader business strategy.
"There was no hostility from either side. Everything went according to plan," the source told The Sun.
Not renewing Meghan and Harry's $100 million Netflix deal doesn't preclude future collaborations between the couple and the streaming giant. In fact, the second season of With Love, Meghan , starring Meghan, is set to premiere on Netflix this fall.
Netflix gradually avoids big projects with Prince Harry and his wife
Netflix has been moving away from big, multi-project deals with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. A similar shift has occurred with its deal involving former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s production company, Higher Ground. While the exact financial terms have never been publicly confirmed, reports in 2018 suggested that the original deal with the former US president and his wife was worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
The news of the contract not being renewed comes as new viewership data was released following the release of With Love, Meghan, a series about the lifestyle of the Duchess of Sussex, which premiered on March 4.
According to Netflix's latest report, released on July 17, covering the first half of 2025, the aforementioned film ranked only 383rd with 5.3 million views.

Meanwhile, Polo - released on 10.12.2024 - executive produced by Prince Harry and Meghan was watched by around 500,000 households, reaching a modest position on Netlix: 3,436.
The Harry & Meghan documentary, which is set to be released in 2022, remains the couple's most-watched debut project on Netflix to date.
"Netflix were smart to get a huge audience for their first documentary series and they knew it would be the pinnacle of their royal content. They weren't disappointed with the results, producing one of the most talked -about shows of all time," a source told The Sun.
On March 12, a week after its release, With Love, Meghan ranked 10th on Netflix's global top 10 shows, with 2.6 million views and 12.6 million hours watched. At the time, it was 7th on Netflix's top 10 shows in the UK and 10th on the platform's top 10 shows in the US.
The Duchess of Sussex is both the host and executive producer of the documentary With Love, Meghan , which was filmed in Montecito, California, where she lives with her family. In the first season, she hosted friends like Mindy Kaling and shared her cooking, entertaining, and lifestyle tips.
Meghan launched the As Ever brand alongside the series. Since then, As Ever has sold out multiple times. Netflix is also a partner with the brand. Several As Ever products have been featured on With Love, Meghan .
With Love, Meghan season 2 has finished filming and will premiere on Netflix this fall, with Michael Steed returning as director and Chrissy Teigen as the Duchess of Sussex's first confirmed guest star. It is the fifth project to come out of Harry and Meghan's deal with the streaming service Netflix.
It was revealed that Prince Harry and his wife had signed a multi-year deal with Netflix in September 2020, when The New York Times reported at the time that their company would produce short-form documentaries, series, feature films, scripted shows and children's programming with the streaming giant.
