Among the targets attacked was a training camp of the National Guard of Ukraine in the village of Palievka, north of Odessa. The AVP website, citing information provided by Donbass Partisan, said the attack on the training camp left Ukrainian soldiers injured and dead, but the exact number was not yet known.
According to intelligence analysis, this training camp was used by a Special Operations Forces combat swimmer unit. This unit participated in a number of operations, including landing attempts and sabotage operations on the territory of the Crimean Peninsula.
This attack also marked the Russian army's change to night tactics, the choice of which was a surprise to the Ukrainian side. This helped Russia achieve significant results.
On March 11, the Russian Defense Ministry also confirmed the destruction of US-made Abrams tanks on the Ukrainian frontline. According to the official report of the Russian military, at least 5 Abrams tanks were destroyed in the Avdeevka area.
Units of the Russian Central Group of Forces “actively improved the situation along the front line” and “repulsed 11 counterattacks by the assault groups of the 24th, 47th and 3rd Motorized Assault Brigades (Armed Forces of Ukraine) near Novobakhmutovka, Berdychi, Orlovka and Tonenke of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic,” the Russian Defense Ministry officially reported.
The attacks resulted in the destruction of Ukrainian equipment, including: US-made Abrams tanks, 2 armored fighting vehicles and 18 motor vehicles. Russian artillery also attacked and destroyed Grad MLRS combat vehicles, US-made M109 Paladin self-propelled guns, D-20 guns and 5 D-30 guns.
In addition, two Ukrainian ammunition depots were also destroyed in the area.
Earlier, on March 10, a video recording images from the front line was made public showing an Abrams tank on fire near the village of Berdychi.
