Russia parades to celebrate 80th anniversary of victory over fascism

On the morning of May 9 (Moscow time), the Russian Federation solemnly held a military parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945 / May 9, 2025) at Red Square, Moscow. This year's parade was attended by more than 11,000 soldiers, with formations from 13 countries. Notably, this was the first time the Vietnam People's Army sent forces to participate in the parade at Red Square. This contributed to affirming Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification, demonstrating Vietnam's responsibility in building and maintaining an environment of peace , stability, cooperation, and development. The presence of the Vietnam People's Army delegation at the parade on Red Square was also an opportunity to enhance the image, position, and mettle of the Vietnam People's Army.

At Red Square, the red flag with yellow star fluttered along with the flags of other countries sending delegations such as Belarus, Kazakhstan, China , the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries... creating special emotions in the Vietnamese community in Russia in particular and all Vietnamese people in general.

According to Sputnik, the parade began with the Russian flag and the Victory Banner marching through Red Square. Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov reviewed the formation of the Russian armed forces and congratulated the soldiers on the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism. In his nearly 10-minute speech, President Vladimir Putin emotionally recalled the merits and sacrifices of tens of millions of frontline and rear-line soldiers who sacrificed their lives for victory in the Great Patriotic War. President Vladimir Putin acknowledged the contributions of the allies, who helped bring Victory Day “closer” thanks to the second front.

“Today, we are all united in joy and sorrow, pride and gratitude, admiration for the generation that defeated fascism at the cost of millions of lives and won freedom and peace for all of humanity. We faithfully preserve the memory of these historic and victorious events,” President Vladimir Putin said.

The Russian President also emphasized that the lessons of the most fierce war in human history are still relevant: the lesson of international solidarity, the lesson of the importance of the fight against racist, nationalist and toxic ideologies that cause national hatred, and especially emphasized the danger of the arguments justifying fascism that have recently appeared. He affirmed that Russia always remembers the lessons of World War II and will never allow the events of this war to be distorted. According to him, the Russian Federation will always be an unshakable barrier to those who support fascism, anti-Russian ideology and anti-Semitism.

After the speech of the Russian President, the parade began. The parade groups included the branches of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, military schools of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation... In addition, there was the participation of foreign military groups such as: Vietnam, Belarus, Egypt, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Tajikistan...

Following the mass of the parade ground is the mass of military equipment. Leading the mechanized mass is the legendary T-34 tank - the symbol of the Great Patriotic War. Following it are the logistical convoys, armored vehicles, the new generation T-72 tank, the Iskander-M missile system, the S-400 air defense system, the Yars strategic missile system, as well as wheeled armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles...

Victory Day on May 9 is one of the most important holidays in Russia, marking the Soviet Union's defeat of Nazi Germany in 1945. The parade on Red Square is not only an occasion to commemorate the heroes who fell in the Great Patriotic War, but also a testament to Russia's military strength and solidarity.
