This is the second major attack in a row by Russia. Previously, on March 21, the Russian army also launched another large-scale attack.
SF reported that about 90 Russian missiles and 60 suicide drones were used in the attack. Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted 35 missiles.
At around 02:00 (local time), Russian suicide drones began attacking targets in various parts of Ukraine. Two hours later, Russian missiles struck. Missiles were reportedly launched from Tu-95ms, Tu22-m3, Kinzhal hypersonic missiles launched from MiG-31s, and ground-based missile systems were also used.
In the morning, after the main phase of the operation, several targets in Ukraine continued to be attacked in the second wave of attacks.
Videos of explosions in different parts of Ukraine have confirmed multiple Russian attacks. Dozens of explosions were heard in Kharkiv, Zaporozhie, Odessa, Vinnytsya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnitsky, Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Sumy regions.
As a result of the attack, many regions of Ukraine lost power and internet access. Damage to strategic energy facilities disrupted the operations of major industrial enterprises.
In Zaporozhye, missile strikes targeted several energy and military facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. One of the main targets was the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Station in Zaporizhia. Its control station and dam were hit by at least two missiles, one of which hit the power plant’s engine room. According to local authorities, a fire broke out after the attack. Ukrainian officials confirmed that there were no casualties.
Russia also carried out a precision strike on the Ladyzhenskaya TPP plant in the Vinnytsia region. According to local reports, the plant was hit by at least three missiles. The exact damage has not yet been disclosed.
In the Kharkiv region, TPP Zmievskaya and CHP-3 were shut down. In the city of Dnipro, TPP Pridneprovskaya was also attacked. In the Dnepropetrovsk region, the target of the attack was TPP Krivyi Rih.
In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, one of the major power plants in western Ukraine, the Burshtyn TPP, was also hit by Russian airstrikes.
Heavy damage to energy facilities in the Odessa region was also reported. Drones and missiles penetrated air defenses in Odessa and destroyed one or more local transformer stations.
