In another development related to Russia, on June 23, the Roscosmos space corporation announced that the country had completed the manufacture of the first liquid-fuel rocket engine, RD-171MV, for test flights of the Soyuz-5 rocket.
In a press release published on its website, Roscosmos noted that it also plans to complete the assembly of the RD-171MV for the second Soyuz-5 rocket and engine production for the third this year.
To date, Russia has successfully conducted more than 20 tests of the RD-171MV engine. Upon passing the inter-departmental tests, the company will begin mass production.
According to Roscosmos, the thrust of the RD-171MV engine exceeds 800 tons, making it the world's most powerful liquid-fueled rocket engine.
The Soyuz-5 rocket, also known as the Irtysh, is being developed in Russia to launch autonomous spacecraft into various near-Earth orbits. The rocket will be able to deliver up to 17 tonnes of cargo into space.
