Images posted on Foreign Minister Shaibani's X account show the moment he stood on a balcony, waving to the crowd below, many of whom held Syrian flags.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Shaibani affirmed: "After many years of isolation, Syria has returned to the world with its free identity."

The event also received support from the UK. Ann Snow, the UK's Special Envoy for Syria, posted on X: "Today I was proud to witness Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani raising the flag at the embassy in London, a historic moment."

According to information from the Syrian Foreign Ministry, during this trip, Foreign Minister Shaibani met with his British counterpart Yvette Cooper. The two sides discussed "prospects for developing relations between the two countries as well as ways to strengthen cooperation in many fields".

Since President Assad was ousted in December 2024, Syria under the leadership of interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa has actively promoted normalization of relations with many countries.

Earlier this week, a meeting between Mr. Sharaa and US President Donald Trump at the White House marked a notable turning point, especially since Mr. Sharaa was once on Washington's terrorist list.
