The Russian Defense Ministry reported on November 14 that air defense forces intercepted 216 Ukrainian drones in the airspace of Russian regions and the Black Sea.
Drone debris fell on a Delo Group container terminal in Novorossiysk, according to the operators. Drone debris also damaged a civilian port in Novorossiysk on the Black Sea. According to preliminary information, three sailors were injured.
Russian officials added that an oil storage facility at the Sheskharis oil transfer facility and coastal infrastructure were damaged by a drone attack in Novorossiysk. The fire at the fuel depot has been extinguished.
It was one of the biggest Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil export infrastructure in recent months. It came after Ukraine stepped up attacks on Russian oil refineries since August, part of Kiev’s efforts to weaken Moscow’s economic resources.
Global oil prices rose more than 2% on supply concerns following the attack. Novorossiysk port has an export capacity of about 2.2 million barrels per day, or 2% of global supply.
Ukraine's General Staff said its forces also fired Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of attack drones in the attack on Novorossiysk "as part of efforts to degrade Russia's military and economic potential."
Ukraine said it also separately attacked an oil refinery in Russia's Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels on the night of November 14.
Long-range air and sea drone attacks by Ukraine have repeatedly disrupted Russia's oil infrastructure this year, often targeting Baltic and Black Sea ports.
