To continue to strengthen the implementation of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms (Law on Tobacco Harms Prevention and Control) and the National Strategy on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms, especially promoting the implementation of Resolution No. 173/2024 of the National Assembly with the content of "prohibiting the production, trading, import, harboring, transporting and using e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products", the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has issued specific instructions.
In response to World No Tobacco Day on May 31 and National No Tobacco Week from May 25-31, 2025 with the theme "Exposing false appeal", the Ministry requests agencies and units under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Department of Culture and Sports; Department of Tourism of provinces and centrally run cities to strictly implement regulations prohibiting smoking in the workplace.
Units need to integrate tobacco harm prevention into their work plans, include smoking bans in internal regulations, post no-smoking signs at work, and regularly monitor the implementation of these regulations.
At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen information and propaganda work on the Law on Drug Prevention and Control, the National Strategy on Drug Prevention and Control, and Resolution No. 173/2024 of the National Assembly within the scope of functions, tasks, and powers of agencies and units.
Regularly organize inspections or coordinate inspections of compliance with regulations on smoking bans and other regulations of the law on tobacco control in the assigned management areas; inspect or coordinate inspections and handle violations of regulations prohibiting the production, trading, import, harboring, transporting and using e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products according to Resolution No. 173/2024 of the National Assembly.
In addition, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recommends that units organize the hanging of banners and slogans in response to World No Tobacco Day on May 31 and National No Tobacco Week from May 25 to 31, 2025; integrate the organization of rallies, seminars, conferences, competitions to learn about the harmful effects of tobacco and other forms of communication suitable to the actual conditions of the agency or unit.
