(Dan Tri) - If in the past, most men were interested in science and technology, now many female students are interested in this field.

The above is the opinion of Mr. Vu Tu Thanh, Deputy Executive Director, US-ASEAN Business Council at the Science and Technology Admissions Fair, with the participation of about 5,000 high school students.

The program has the participation of Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Central Committee of Vietnam Student Association, Hanoi Department of Education and Training...

At the event, parents and students received advice from representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training , about 30 universities, academies and many prestigious speakers...

According to Mr. Thanh, if in the past most men were interested in science and technology, now there has been a shift. Accordingly, more and more female students are interested in technology.

"Not just men, this industry is equal for both men and women. One of the things that inspires women to pursue this career is curiosity. I think that is one of the advantages of women in the field of science and technology," Mr. Thanh shared.

According to this expert's analysis, the reason why the science and technology industry has had few female faces up to now is because the culture and socio-economic structure in the country are limiting their participation.

"Vietnam is catching up very quickly with the world in this field. I believe that the opportunities for women in this industry will be huge in the near future. Accordingly, in the future, there will be many female faces contributing to the development of the country's science and technology industry," said Mr. Thanh.

Not only Mr. Thanh's opinion, this was also given by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Phu Khanh, Vice Principal of Phenikaa University, in a previous admissions consultation session.

According to Associate Professor Khanh, in the recent series of admissions consultations held in several provinces and cities, many female students were very interested in the technology industry, especially semiconductor technology.

"This industry has been hot in recent years. By 2030, the entire semiconductor technology market will account for about 10,000 billion USD, which is very large. Vietnam alone is lacking about 50,000 engineers. Thus, the job opportunities in this industry are very large and important," said Associate Professor Khanh.

Speaking at the consultation conference this morning, Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, said that the world, regional and national contexts are changing, creating many great challenges, but also creating many breakthrough opportunities for Vietnam.

"Attracting talented students to study science and technology will create favorable conditions for selecting and nurturing excellent students, contributing to improving the quality of training, research and innovation, meeting the demand for science and technology human resources for Vietnam in the new context," said Prof. Dr. Chu Hoang Ha.

Dr. Pham Huy Hieu, lecturer at VinUni University, acknowledged that we are living in an era of rapid scientific and technological development but at the same time we also face many challenges such as climate change.

Technology is creating a leap forward for economies and placing urgent demands on high-quality human resources in the fields of science and technology, artificial intelligence, big data, new energy and automation.

Citing an international study, Dr. Pham Huy Hieu emphasized that in the near future, many traditional occupations will disappear, while new occupations will simultaneously appear.

This is no longer a hypothesis but is already happening with large-scale layoffs globally, especially at technology companies as AI and automation develop so rapidly.

According to this expert, from now on, young people need to clearly define their career path, especially choosing a promising and sustainable career for decades to come.
