Book and Reading Culture Day in the province has 2 "Learning Cities"

Book and Reading Culture Day is an occasion to honor the value of books, affirming the position, role and importance of books in social life.

The event contributes to forming the habit of reading in families, clans, schools, agencies and organizations; building a learning society and cultural values, standards of Dong Thap people who are affectionate, dynamic and creative.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province Huynh Thi Hoai Thu said: "Dong Thap is a locality with 2 out of 5 cities in the country recognized by UNESCO as "Learning Cities".

This is not only the honor of the people of Sa Dec City and Cao Lanh City, but also the pride of the entire lotus homeland, so spreading the love of books is extremely necessary.

The event is of great significance, marking a new step forward in encouraging and spreading reading culture to everyone, especially the young generation. Book Day is an occasion to honor the invaluable values ​​that books bring, an opportunity for everyone to be more aware of the role of reading in life.

The fourth Book and Reading Culture Day in Dong Thap took place from April 18 to April 21 with many attractive and meaningful activities, such as: Art program to celebrate Book and Reading Culture Day; contest "Book display space - Artistic book arrangement"; author exchange, work introduction; thematic talks on Book and Reading Culture Day; exhibition activities, displays of red-crowned cranes, children's paintings...

On the opening night of the festival, delegates, along with many students and local people, participated in activities such as reading books, viewing exhibitions, visiting and buying books...

At the festival, Comrade Le Minh Hoan, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly , sent a congratulatory letter on the occasion of the fourth Book and Reading Culture Day and donated books to Dong Thap Provincial Library.

On this occasion, from the mobilization of the Dong Thap Province Association for the Promotion of Education, many units have sponsored bookcases so that the province can continue the journey of giving the Bookcase for the Promotion of Education to localities in the province.
