Talking to Dan Tri , Ms. Pham Thu Phuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Insurance Management and Supervision ( Ministry of Finance ) said that today (April 13) she received information about the case of artist Kim Tu Long claiming to have lost insurance money after 3 years of payment.
"After receiving the information, the Department asked the insurance company to review the specifics of this case and report back to the Department," Ms. Phuong informed. After collecting the information, the Department will publicize the review content.
The head of the Insurance Management and Supervision Department said that businesses must proactively review and report back. "Many customers reported on the media that they lost money, implying that businesses were dishonest and fraudulent. However, to know for sure, we need to check and clarify further," said Ms. Phuong.
According to artist Kim Tu Long on livestream, in 2018, he bought insurance from Prudential Life Insurance Company for his son at a price of more than 40 million VND per year.
The artist said that during the time he offered to buy insurance, the consultant contacted him every day. For the next 2 years, after signing the insurance contract, he still received calls from the consultant to remind him every time the insurance contract was due.
However, in the fourth year, no one reminded him to pay and Kim Tu Long himself did not remember to pay insurance.
In the 5th year, when he contacted the insurance salesman again, Kim Tu Long learned that this person had quit and was no longer working, so he did not remind him to pay the annual insurance premium. When he called the company, he learned that his insurance contract had been canceled because he had not paid according to regulations for the past 2 years.
"Long lost more than 100 million VND in 3 years of payment," Kim Tu Long informed while livestreaming on his personal page.
