Speaking to the New Straits Times, Endrick dos Santos said: “The Vietnamese players are fast, strong and very athletic. They play aggressively but they also have weaknesses. I believe Malaysia can exploit the weaknesses of the Vietnamese players.
The 30-year-old player also revealed that coach Phung Thanh Phuong of Ho Chi Minh City Club told him to play well for the Malaysian team in the decisive match against the Vietnamese team.
Although Malaysia has not known victory against Vietnam since 2014, Endrick is still confident that Malaysia can change history.
He added: “I believe in my teammates. We are in good form and well prepared. The upcoming match promises to be extremely exciting. We understand that the Vietnamese team is a strong opponent, but we have made significant progress.”

Endrick was born in 1995 in Brazil. This player plays as an attacking midfielder. Endrick was trained in Brazil. He used to play for Cyprus' top club Apollon Limassol but was unsuccessful. After that, Endrick wandered to Romania, before moving to Malaysia in 2018. Currently, this 30-year-old player plays for Ho Chi Minh City Club on loan from Johor Darul Ta'zim.
Endrick began to naturalize and play for the Malaysian national team from 2023. Up to now, he has played 22 matches for the Malaysian team but has not scored any goals.
