Photographer Bui Khac Thien: Turning his lens on the daily lives of ethnic minorities

In the last days of the year of the Dragon, photographer Khac Thien (Provincial Literature and Arts Association) released to the public an impressive photo book: "People and nature: a brilliant blend of ethnic groups and regions of Vietnam" - published by the National Culture Publishing House.

New Rice Festival - work won Bronze Medal at National Tourism Exhibition 2023.

Photographer Khac Thien was born and raised in Thai Nguyen City. He became familiar with the camera in 1974. At first, he took photos for friends, took photos during trips, events, weddings, and then went to regions in the province to take photos of people and landscapes he loved. In 1996, he "fell in love" with art photography with his first work "Drops of sunshine" which was displayed at the provincial photo exhibition. In 1999, his work "Opening the way to the village" won first prize in the photo contest with the theme "Portrait of a worker" organized by the Thai Nguyen Provincial Labor Federation.

Sunset - the work won the International Excellence Award in Tunisia under the patronage of FIAP in 2021.

Passionate about capturing the vivid moments of life of ethnic minorities, photographer Khac Thien has set foot on many beautiful lands of the Fatherland. Those trips, which were sweaty, tiring and took a lot of effort and money, have brought him many domestic and international awards.

Tay ethnic identity - work won the Ba Be Tourism Encouragement Award ( Bac Kan ) in 2023.

But for him, the greatest reward is serving the public with photos imbued with the breath of life. And more preciously, through his lens, the image of the country and people of Vietnam is known to the world. His artistic photography works, viewed from any angle, have depth and humanity that make readers' hearts flutter, colleagues respect, and journalists admire.
