Officers and soldiers of Regiment 877, Provincial Military Command, immersed themselves in floodwaters to move people and property to safety.

The historic flood in early October caused thousands of houses in the province to be deeply flooded, many residential areas were submerged in water. Prolonged rain and floods caused power outages, water shortages, people's lives became difficult, lacking food and clean water. In that difficult moment, Major Mua Mi Cho, Political Assistant, Regiment 877 advised the unit to mobilize maximum forces and means, synchronously deploy rescue plans, and evacuate people and property to a safe place. Not only was he the commander on the combat map, Major Cho was also directly present at the epicenter of the flood, closely following the area, firmly grasping each vulnerable area to promptly mobilize rescue forces. In the midst of the rushing water, he and his teammates soaked in the rain and flood, bringing the elderly and children out of the danger zone. When the water receded, he rolled up his sleeves with the soldiers to clean up mud on the streets, clear sewers, and help people clean their houses and stabilize their lives.

Thanks to the timely advice of Major Mua Mi Cho, Regiment 877, the Provincial Military Command mobilized 1,200 officers and soldiers to participate in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters; supporting more than 3,000 households to move their assets and clean their houses; providing food and provisions to more than 600 isolated households, promptly rescuing many trapped people. Moved by the spirit of serving the people of Uncle Ho's soldiers, Mr. Nguyen Quang Khiem, Thai Ha village, Ngoc Duong commune, emotionally shared: "After the flood, the whole village was submerged in mud, many houses were damaged, and food and provisions were in short supply. In the most difficult times, soldiers of Regiment 877 carried bags of rice, boxes of instant noodles, and cans of clean water to hand to the people. Not only providing relief, they also helped people clear mud and clean the roads to make the village clean again."

As the direct commander, Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Thin, Head of Ha Giang 2 Ward Police, mobilized 100% of the military force, coordinated with the security and order forces at the grassroots level to establish shock teams to each deeply flooded household, support the movement of property, help the elderly and children to safety. In the midst of the rushing water, Mr. Thin and his teammates pushed the boat to bring each box of necessities and medicine to every corner, promptly supporting people in the deeply flooded areas.

After the flood receded, Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Van Thin directed 30 officers and soldiers along with 13 vehicles including excavators and cars to clean up mud and clean up the environment in the area. At the same time, he also helped the unit connect with the Department of Building the Homeland Security Movement (Ministry of Public Security) and charity groups to support the people.

Mr. Hoang Van Hai actively mobilized and donated many essential supplies to help people in disaster areas.

Leaving no one behind

Along with the frontline forces, many organizations, individuals and philanthropists have promptly joined hands to share with people in flood-hit areas. They quietly contributed their efforts and money to bring warmth and affection in difficult times. Mr. Hoang Van Hai, an official of the Department of Industry and Trade, is a typical example of the spirit of sharing and responsibility to the community. Although he had just undergone surgery due to a serious traffic accident and was being treated at the Provincial General Hospital, when the floodwaters receded, Mr. Hai immediately sprang into action. He quickly connected with dozens of volunteer groups, called on organizations, businesses and philanthropists to donate more than 100 million VND, gave 6,200 bottles of water and 603 essential gifts to people in flood-hit areas.

Mr. Hoang Van Hai shared: “After the flood receded, many residential areas were still covered in mud, without electricity, without water, and with scarce goods, causing people's lives to be disrupted. I mobilized union members, youth from agencies, units and members of the Living Blood Bank Club to join hands to cook more than 6,000 free meals, handing them out to each household, the elderly and children in social protection facilities.”

During the days when her hometown was struggling with the flood, Ms. Ha Thi Huyen Trang created a Zalo group "Supporting people in Ha Giang flood-affected areas" to promptly update information, connect rescue forces and volunteers. After a short time, the group became an effective communication channel, helping hundreds of people in dangerous areas to evacuate safely. From the donation of more than 23 million VND, Ms. Trang quickly bought necessities, clean water, and medicine to promptly supply rescue forces and isolated people. Not stopping there, she also connected with 15 volunteer groups, mobilized hundreds of gifts, raincoats, and food to send to people in flood-affected areas in Linh Ho commune and Vi Xuyen district. After the flood, she continued to initiate the "Zero-VND Book Market" program to bring new notebooks and books to students in disadvantaged areas, giving them more motivation to return to school.

Promoting the tradition of mutual love and support of the nation, many organizations and individuals inside and outside the province have joined hands to share with people in flood-affected areas. Trucks carrying relief goods, volunteer meals, and essential necessities are not only timely sources of material support, but also vivid evidence of solidarity in difficult times. From those simple acts, community strength is spread, human love is warmed, and faith is added to help the revolutionary land of Tuyen Quang strongly revive after the storm and flood.
