Research and transfer of new and sustainable technologies in the construction sector

On September 30, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport (UTH) and Deo Ca Group held a ceremony to announce the establishment of Deo Ca Research and Training Institute (DCI). This is the result of cooperation between the university and enterprises to train and develop human resources in a timely manner to meet the needs of human resources, jobs, and modern technology applications.

Attending the event were: Comrade Lai Xuan Mon, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Central Party Agencies; Pham Ngoc Thuong, Deputy Minister of Education and Training; Ho Nghia Dung, former Minister of Transport; Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Director of the Road Administration, Ministry of Transport.

The objective of Deo Ca Research and Training Institute is to conduct in-depth research activities, receive and transfer new and sustainable technologies in the field of construction works and transport infrastructure in Vietnam; provide high-quality personnel with knowledge and practical skills that have been trained for businesses and organizations operating in the field of construction works, infrastructure and transport; Advise on policies and strategies for developing technology of materials and transport infrastructure in Vietnam.

In addition to providing scientific and technological services on transportation, Deo Ca Research and Training Institute will become the focal point for organizing seminars, gathering policy issues, shortage of human resources, and training facilities to make recommendations to the Government and relevant ministries and sectors with relevant policies and mechanisms.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Xuan Phuong - President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport said: The Resolution of the 6th Conference of the 11th Party Central Committee stated that "Universities must closely link businesses, employers, training institutions and the State to develop human resources according to social needs". And in the world, the cooperation model between schools and businesses is a popular cooperation model such as the car company Land Rover and Warwick University, which created a world-famous car line; the pharmaceutical company Astra Zeneca and Oxford University have developed a vaccine to help protect people from the COVID pandemic. This cooperation has a very positive impact on teaching and scientific research activities and has continuously improved the quality of learners.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Phuong said that in recent years, the cooperation model between schools and enterprises to create high-quality human resources to meet market demand has been an important task for training institutions. Recognizing that transportation is a leading industry in applying technology to develop smart transportation systems, especially to anticipate the trend of building urban railways and high-speed railways, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport and Deo Ca Group officially cooperated to establish the Deo Ca Research and Training Institute to carry out four main tasks: Training; applied scientific research and technology transfer; Consulting and project implementation. In addition, the two sides are determined to build a key laboratory for the transportation industry, mastering specific experiments that Vietnam has not yet mastered such as: wind tunnels, earthquakes, large-span structures, suspension bridges, and cable-stayed bridges.

Mr. Ho Minh Hoang - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Deo Ca Group, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DCI Institute affirmed that Deo Ca Research and Training Institute will use the intellectual team of members of the advisory board, board of directors and qualified staff of Deo Ca Group, lecturers of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, and at the same time recruit and invite experts to participate in teaching to improve training quality.

"We hope that the leaders of the Ministry and industry will have a voice to report to the competent authorities to pay more attention and provide more support so that Vietnamese enterprises can develop in time and be ready to reach the international level. In order for us not to be dependent on foreign technology and contractors, the country's investment money must be owned by Vietnamese people and exploited by Vietnamese people on the basis of accessing new technology and techniques in the world. Besides, we are aware that the country's context still has many difficulties, we need to work together, learn together, and criticize policies and mechanisms, and adjust training programs. At the same time, we determine that Deo Ca is a breakthrough, developing from the mindset of "thinking differently, creating a difference", but to develop sustainably and reach the international level, it must be from "knowledge creating value" - Mr. Ho Minh Hoang said.

Congratulating Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport and Deo Ca Group for their new progress, Comrade Lai Xuan Mon, Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department emphasized: This is a new and creative model. With the function of advising the Party, we will refer to this model and include it in documents to develop projects for education and technology. The innovative approach helps improve the quality of human resources, build a team of experts for the transport sector and other fields, contributing to the implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Dr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Director of the Department of Roads, Ministry of Transport, highly appreciated the efforts and sense of responsibility of Deo Ca Group for the development of the industry, especially in the investment and management of road traffic works, and said that the success of Deo Ca Group and the School also contributed to the success of the transport industry. At the same time, he believed that Deo Ca would continue to accompany to overcome the difficulties of the industry, ensuring the harmony of interests of the people, the State and enterprises in developing domestic transport infrastructure. Particularly for the railway sector, the representative of the Ministry of Transport hoped that Deo Ca Group would continue to research and invest, learn from the experience of developing railway systems of other countries, thereby developing the country's railway system and creating conditions to further improve the capacity of domestic enterprises to master science and technology.

In order to concretize the action program, Deo Ca Research and Training Institute has signed cooperation agreements with Vietnam Railway College, Central College of Transport IV, Central College of Transport V; partner companies including Chodai - Kiso & Jiban Company, A2Z Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company, Hoang Long Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company.
