Báo Xây dựngBáo Xây dựng08/02/2025

On the morning of February 8, people in Lo Dieu village (Hoai My commune, Hoai Nhon town, Binh Dinh province) discovered a whale carcass washed ashore. People set up an altar and buried it according to local customs.

According to Mr. Tran Thanh Si, head of Lo Dieu village, Hoai My commune, according to local people's belief, at the beginning of the year, whichever village is chosen by the whale to "fall" ashore, that place will receive good luck, and the boats will sail smoothly all year round. According to folk beliefs, the whale is the guardian deity of fishermen, protecting and keeping them safe at sea, especially when encountering big waves and strong winds... Therefore, burying the whale is a way for fishermen to show their respect and gratitude to the god who has protected them. In the photo: Bringing the whales to the burial place.
