On the occasion of the 2025 United Nations Vesak Festival hosted by Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha welcomed and enshrined Buddha's relics at many locations.
After Thanh Tam Pagoda (HCMC) and Ba Den Mountain ( Tay Ninh ), Buddha's relics will be brought to Quan Su Pagoda (headquarters of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha) from May 13 to May 16.
Specifically, the Buddha's relic procession at Quan Su Pagoda will take place solemnly and sacredly, starting on the afternoon of May 13. At 3:00 p.m., the relics will be taken from Noi Bai Airport, passing through the important roads of the capital such as Nhat Tan Bridge, Vo Chi Cong, Kim Ma, Le Duan, Tran Nhan Tong... and placed at Quan Su Pagoda.
At 6 p.m. the same day, the procession continued its journey through the central streets around Hoan Kiem Lake such as Ly Thuong Kiet, Hang Bai, Dinh Tien Hoang, Ba Trieu... and returned to Quan Su Pagoda.
From May 14 to the morning of May 16, Buddha's relics will be enshrined on the first floor of Quan Su Pagoda's hall for Buddhists and people from all over to come and worship.
According to information from Quan Su Pagoda, monks, nuns, Buddhists, residents and tourists do not need to register in advance. The pagoda will not collect or accept any fees from people coming to worship, and will not accept wreaths or offerings. The organizing committee emphasizes that people coming to worship the relics must line up in order, move in turn in line and remain absolutely silent.
People should also note: Do not take photos or film inside the relics and worship areas. Children under 2 years old and people wearing inappropriate clothing will not be allowed to enter the relics.
To get to Quan Su Pagoda, people park their personal vehicles at the main gate of Thong Nhat Park - Tran Nhan Tong Street. Then gather at the waiting room at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace - 91 Tran Hung Dao Street to be guided to the first floor hall of Quan Su Pagoda - where the Buddha's relics are enshrined.
From May 17 to May 21, the relics will continue to be brought to Tam Chuc Pagoda ( Ha Nam ) - the place that hosted the 2019 Vesak Festival - before returning to India. The peace-praying ceremony, chanting and worshiping at Tam Chuc Pagoda will be held continuously for 5 days.
The relics of Buddha Shakyamuni are evidence of true practice, perfect discipline, concentration and wisdom. The presence of the relics arouses faith, helping worshipers develop a good heart and turn to goodness. For Buddhists, being able to worship the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni is a miracle, just like seeing the Buddha still present in this world , with compassion, joy, and equanimity, saving all living beings.
