Ambulances and police were immediately dispatched to Water Street, central Liverpool, after receiving an emergency call at 6pm (local time, May 26), when the parade was about to end.
A middle-aged white man driving a black Ford Galaxy drove into a crowd of fans walking to celebrate.

The video posted online on social media shows the car suddenly accelerating and turning right, hitting several people, dragging them about 20 meters.
Some were trapped under the wheels and some were thrown to the side of the road. When the car stopped, many angry people smashed the windows and dragged the driver out to "deal with" him.
Helicopters quickly arrived at the scene, landing near the Liver Building. Several police cars, ambulances and fire trucks lined Water Street to help with the rescue effort.
Images from the scene showed many people being taken to hospital on stretchers. According to initial statistics, 47 people were injured, including 4 children.

British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said: " The scenes in Liverpool are horrific. My condolences to all those injured or affected by the incident."
He added that he was "updating developments and asking everyone to remain calm and wait for the police to investigate".
UK Home Secretary Yvette Cooper described the scene as "truly shocking" and thanked rescuers for their quick response.
Liverpool also posted: "The club is in contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident that occurred at the end of today's parade.
Our thoughts and prayers are with those injured in this tragic incident. The club will continue to provide all possible support to the emergency services and local authorities."
