Man in Quang Tri died while collecting firewood in flood

QTO - On the afternoon of October 29, information from the leader of the People's Committee of Ai Tu commune, Quang Tri province said that after nearly 2 days of searching, the authorities found the body of a man who was believed to have been swept away by the flood while collecting firewood in the rain and flood.

The victim was Mr. T.D.T. (born in 1968), residing in Tra Lien Tay village, Ai Tu commune. Mr. T.'s body was found at about 3:30 p.m. the same day, about 800 meters from the accident site, on the Thach Han river.

Previously, on October 27, Mr. T.D.T. rowed a boat to find wood for firewood on the Thach Han River, then did not return. After receiving the report, the local authorities coordinated with functional forces and family members to launch a search.

According to Chairman of Ai Tu Commune People's Committee Tran Thien Nhan, the victim's body has been handed over to his family by the authorities for burial according to local customs. Commune leaders also visited and expressed condolences to the victim's family.

It is known that in recent days, there has been heavy rain in the province, causing many areas in the South of Quang Tri to be flooded, and the Thach Han River to rise and flow rapidly.

Faced with the complicated developments of the floods, units and localities have proactively deployed many measures with forces on guard duty in vulnerable areas; installed barriers and warning signs in flooded underground and spillway locations, cut-off roads, areas at risk of landslides and dangerous areas. At the same time, warned people not to carry out activities in vulnerable areas to avoid unfortunate incidents.
