Instead of taking her children or grandchildren to enroll, Ms. Hoang joined the other 18-year-old freshmen to enroll herself. She is a freshman majoring in Chinese Language, majoring in translation and interpretation.
Ms. Hoang has a university degree in Food Chemistry. However, after turning 60, she wants to continue to conquer a new field of study related to her favorite field.
Sharing the reason for continuing to study at university at the age of 62, freshman Nguyen Thi Tu Hoang said that the older she gets, the more her memory declines. She wanted to find a way to train her brain, to keep her mind sharp and alert.
After consideration, Ms. Hoang chose to study a new subject, a new major to challenge herself.
Choosing Chinese Language major came from the fact that when going to pagodas, Ms. Hoang was very attentive, interested and curious about Chinese Buddhist scriptures and parallel sentences.
This constantly urged Ms. Hoang to learn and study on her own, but without much success. From there, she decided to go to university to learn more thoroughly and study more systematically.
Her going to university received a lot of encouragement, admiration and gratitude from new students and students in the school. Many young people see her as an example of the spirit of learning, not letting any difficulty become a barrier.
Becoming a new student in the senior group, Ms. Hoang also imagined some of the difficulties in the learning journey ahead.
With everyone's gratitude, Ms. Hoang was also somewhat apprehensive thinking about the situation of not being able to complete her years in university, but she also encouraged herself to try her best to go as far as she could.

For a 62-year-old freshman, going to school nourishes the mind and spirit (Photo: NT).
She herself is fond of the saying “Study, study more, study forever”. For her, studying at this age is not only to get a degree but also to nurture her inner spirit, helping her to be more open-minded and positive.
