In Phu An ward, high tides overflowed the An Tay - Phu An dike at the canal culverts, causing flooding in the surrounding areas of Tan An 1, 2, 5, Phu Thuan, Ben Giang, and Phu Thu neighborhoods, affecting about 150 households and 20 hectares of fruit trees, with a flooding depth of about 0.5m.
In Thu Dau Mot ward, some canal banks overflowed, flooding Chanh Nghia 6, 7, 8, 9 neighborhoods, Phu Tho 4, 5, 6 neighborhoods, with a depth of 0.8-1.2 m, affecting about 500 households...
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City said that, in the face of the above situation, the department has coordinated with units and localities to inspect the affected areas and requested localities and units to mobilize forces and materials to temporarily reinforce positions on the shore and pump water to prevent flooding for people in the area; at the same time, directed the Irrigation Sub-Department to arrange personnel on duty at key and vulnerable positions affected by high tides.
In addition, the People's Committee of Binh Quoi Ward mobilized the Ward Military Command and inspection forces to immediately build sandbags to prevent overflow and mobilize pumps to pump water to drain and prevent flooding in low-lying areas. The People's Committees of Thu Dau Mot Ward, Binh Hoa Ward, Phu An Ward... also mobilized forces to respond, evacuate deeply flooded households to safe places, and support people to raise furniture, electrical equipment...
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City requested the City Urban Infrastructure Construction Investment Project Management Board, the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, and the City Irrigation Service Management Company Limited to speed up the progress of projects invested by the unit; proactively implement measures and plans to prevent high tides in areas where the site has been handed over but construction has not yet begun. During the construction process, there must be appropriate measures to build embankments, divert and block the flow, arrange forces and materials... to minimize flooding affecting people's lives, activities and production.
The People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones shall review key locations that are likely to be affected by high tides in the area to organize reinforcement and prepare response plans for high tides from now until the Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo 2026.
