The Provincial Party Secretary said that through actual surveys, the situation of landslides on the dyke in Thanh Long islet still has the risk of recurring, threatening the lives and livelihoods of people.
The Provincial Party Secretary directed the Provincial People's Committee to coordinate with relevant sectors to help people stabilize their lives soon, ensuring safety of people and property. Previously, on the evening of October 23, due to the impact of heavy rain combined with high tides, a section of the Thanh Long islet dike (Phuoc Ly Nhi hamlet, Quoi Thien commune) broke with a length of about 15m. The incident caused water to overflow into the production area, causing flooding and damage to about 15 hectares of orchards of 6 households living on the islet. Immediately after the discovery, local authorities and people mobilized forces and materials to urgently reinforce and temporarily repair the broken dike section, limiting the spread of damage.
