Hanoi pilots a model for providing school lunch services: Ensuring safety, quality, and professionalism.

The findings from last week's unannounced inspections by the inter-agency inspection team on the organization of school lunch programs in Hanoi show that the pilot model being implemented, which provides meals from the best and most reputable units with sufficient capacity, has created superior and professional advantages.
Ms. Phung Thi Minh Nguyen, Principal of Phu Minh Primary School, said: “This year, having experienced the pilot model of receiving pre-prepared meals from Vietnam Aviation Catering Services Joint Stock Company (VINACS), we are even more reassured about receiving clean, delicious, and safe school meals for our children.”
Mr. Tran Van Quyet, a parent of a student at Phu Minh Primary School, said: “In the past 30 days alone, we have visited VINACS several times to inspect the process, and we are completely reassured about the food safety and quality of our children's meals.”
Mr. Tran Van Ha, Head Chef of VINACS, said: "In the pilot program of providing school lunch services, because we recognized this as a task assigned by the city, the company always researched menus suitable for the specific age groups of the children, ensuring a diverse menu and meticulous preparation methods."
State-owned enterprises – the cornerstone of an independent and self-reliant economy in the new era of development.

In the draft Political Report submitted to the 14th National Congress of the Party, the task of "building an independent and self-reliant economy linked with deep international integration" is identified as a strategic direction of vital importance.
An independent and self-reliant economy must be highly competitive and resilient to global fluctuations. State-owned enterprises are the "stabilizing pillars" of this structure, the pioneering force in building a solid endogenous capacity for the Vietnamese economy.
To achieve that goal, the draft Political Report of the 14th National Congress identifies the comprehensive and modern development of a socialist-oriented market economy as one of the three major pillars of the development model. In this, restructuring and developing state-owned enterprises is a key task, aiming to realize the leading role of the state-owned economic sector.
The dangers of weight loss products containing banned substances.

In the "Ngan 98" case, according to the results of the inspection by the authorities, some samples of the weight-loss product contained two banned substances: sibutramine and phenolphthalein.
According to Dr. Nguyen Trung Nguyen, Director of the Poison Control Center (Bach Mai Hospital), sibutramine was previously used to treat obesity. On April 14, 2011, the Drug Administration of Vietnam issued a document suspending its nationwide distribution and recalling all drugs containing this active ingredient.
Phenolphthalein, the second banned substance found in "Ngan 98's" product, was previously used in laxatives but was banned in 1999 due to its potential risk of causing cancer and serious digestive disorders.
According to Dr. Doan Du Manh, a member of the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association, when mixed into weight-loss drugs, phenolphthalein strongly stimulates intestinal peristalsis, causing diarrhea, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalance. More seriously, it lowers blood potassium levels, which can cause irregular heartbeats or even sudden cardiac arrest.
Alley 85, Vo Chi Cong Street (Nghia Do Ward) is frequently flooded: A plan for renovation is urgently needed.

For many years, Alley 85, Vo Chi Cong Street (Nghia Do Ward) has been a nightmare for residents during rainy weather, due to prolonged flooding caused by the lack of a drainage system.
Mr. Le Xuan Son (a resident of alley 85, Vo Chi Cong Street) said: "After about an hour of rain, the alley floods. Light rain causes puddles, while heavy rain turns it into a pond. We residents have to dig holes and install pumps to drain the water so we can resume normal life."
Pham Quang Manh, Deputy Head of the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Planning Department of Nghia Do Ward, said that the ward had received complaints from households in alley 85, Vo Chi Cong Street, and had sent personnel to inspect, survey, and record the actual situation.
After assessing the situation, the task force met and discussed with Drainage Enterprise No. 2, several relevant units, and local residents to plan the implementation of drainage and clearing of the waterway in the alley.
Operating a two-tiered local government system: Innovating governance models and building a public service apparatus that serves the people.
Lesson 4: Administrative procedures extended to villages and residential areas.

The cultural center of Doi Dung village (My Duc commune) was more bustling than usual on the afternoon of October 14, 2025, due to the launch of the "Mobile Public Service" model, implemented by the Hanoi City Public Administration Service Center in coordination with the People's Committee of My Duc commune.
Following My Duc, the model will be implemented in the communes of Dong Anh, Ba Vi, and Soc Son, where there are many workers and residents still face difficulties in accessing administrative procedures.
According to Ms. Cu Ngoc Trang, Director of the Hanoi City Public Administrative Service Center, the pilot implementation of these models not only helps reduce the workload for local authorities but also clearly demonstrates the spirit of a service-oriented government, bringing public services closer to the people.
According to Ha Minh Hai, Head of the Hanoi City Party Committee's Organization Department, the city organizes training sessions not only for officials and civil servants to listen to lectures, but also to exchange ideas and resolve practical difficulties.
