In recent days, prolonged heavy rain combined with flood discharge from hydroelectric reservoirs has caused flooding and damage to many residential areas and vegetable growing areas of Lam Dong people.
According to preliminary statistics from the authorities, as of November 22, the locality had about 3,000 hectares of crops, mainly flowers, damaged. Of which, some areas specializing in vegetable production suffered heavy damage, including: D'ran commune with about 300 hectares; Ka Do commune with more than 150 hectares; Quang Lap commune with more than 150 hectares; Quang Phu commune with about 50 hectares of damage.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Khuyen, a resident of D'ran commune, said that her family has a 1-hectare garden next to the Da Nhim River for cabbage production. During the recent rainy and flood days, the vegetable garden, which was close to harvest time, was completely submerged and lost. Ms. Khuyen confided: "Now we pray for the rain to stop and the flood to recede so that we can renovate the garden and produce a new crop."
An official from the People's Committee of D'ran commune said that the floods caused heavy economic losses to the people. In particular, the vegetable growing areas serving the market were severely damaged by the floods.
“After this flood, local people need a lot of time to restore production. Many gardens were eroded by floodwaters or were filled with garbage, so it will take farmers many months to restore the land,” said an official of D’ran commune.

Meanwhile, in Hiep Thanh commune, authorities recorded hundreds of hectares of vegetables and flowers damaged in the floods in late October and early November. To meet market demand, when the water receded, people in this commune immediately started to improve the land and produce.
Mr. Vo Tien Huy, Director of Tien Huy Cooperative, located in Hiep Thanh Commune, said that the cooperative cooperates with local people to produce many types of vegetables on an area of nearly 40 hectares. The recent floods and rains have damaged many gardens, leading to a 30% reduction in output supplied to the market.
According to Mr. Huy, for the flooded land area, cooperative members are renovating it to soon restore production.

According to the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Lam Dong province, in 2025, the locality plans to plant 92,000 hectares of vegetables and so far has planted 90,572 hectares, with an output of about 2.6 million tons.
Mr. Ha Ngoc Chien, Head of the Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection of Lam Dong province, informed that the remaining harvest area of the locality is more than 9,000 hectares, with an estimated output of over 300,000 tons.
"In the recent flood, we initially recorded 3,000 hectares of vegetables damaged, with an estimated output of about 90,000 tons. This somewhat affects the market supply at this time, but does not affect the market before, during and after Tet because Tet vegetables are planted in late November and early December," he said.
Many kinds of vegetables increase in price
According to the Lam Dong Provincial Agricultural Extension Center, from November 11 until now, due to the impact of floods, supply disruptions, and strong market demand, the prices of many types of vegetables, tubers, and fruits have increased compared to the beginning of November.
