On the afternoon of November 19, on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day (November 20), Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son visited and congratulated former Vice President and former Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Binh.
The Minister kindly asked about her health and respectfully thanked Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh for her contributions to the country's education cause; at the same time, expressed pride and congratulated her when she was awarded the noble titles .
Talking to the Minister, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh said that in the new development stage of the country, the demand for high-quality human resources is increasingly urgent, making the task of the education sector heavier than ever.
She was interested in and discussed with the Minister many key issues, such as how to develop the young generation comprehensively in terms of physical, moral and personality; the key role of higher education in training high-quality human resources; the development of the teaching staff; as well as the need for the State to have policies to create job opportunities to encourage overseas students to return home to contribute.
During the conversation, the former Vice President mentioned General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. During the conversation, the General Secretary delivered an important policy speech at Oxford University, outlining the vision for the framework of Vietnam-UK relations and the renovation and development orientation of Vietnam in the era of national development.
In particular, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh noted that the education sector is receiving deep attention from the Party and the State, clearly shown in Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW, identifying "education and training as the top national policy, deciding the future of the nation".
Sharing the responsibility and hardships of the sector, the former Vice President expressed his hope that the entire sector will continue to make efforts and promote more effectively to be worthy of the trust and great attention of the Party and State; at the same time, he sent his best wishes for the education sector to develop strongly, meeting the increasingly high demands of the country.

Informing the former Vice President, Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that this year the Education sector organized many meaningful activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of its tradition; including the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction and renovation of the sector's traditional education area in Khuon Tru village, Yen Nguyen commune, Tuyen Quang province, which took place on November 18.
Discussing the issues that the former Vice President was interested in, the Minister affirmed the determination and efforts of the entire industry in carrying out the important responsibilities entrusted by the Party and State.
On this occasion, the Minister sent his best wishes and expressed his hope to continue receiving valuable advice and contributions from the former Vice President on the industry's policies and tasks in the coming time.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Binh's real name is Nguyen Thi Chau Sa, from Quang Nam (now Da Nang City).
During the period 1969-1976, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh left a special mark in the history of Vietnamese diplomacy as the first and only female diplomat to date to have signed an international agreement with a representative of the US Government during wartime.
After the country's reunification, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh held the position of Minister of Education from 1976-1987, Deputy Head of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam from 1987-1992, and Vice President from 1992 to 2002.
Currently, at the age of 99, despite her poor health, Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh always pays special attention to the education career, closely following the activities of the industry.
