From the thatched roof of that year
Ta Phin Ethnic Boarding Primary School was established in 1955, during the most difficult times for Sinh Phinh commune in the mountainous region of Dien Bien province. At that time, the classrooms were just thatched huts built against the mountainside, the desks and chairs were rudimentary, and books were scarce. There was a period when teachers and students had to work together to carry stones, mix mortar, and erect temporary walls to create a place to learn. Amidst overwhelming hardship, the joy of teaching and learning still shone brightly on every face.
Mr. Tran Dang Vuong, the former principal, recounted those early days as unforgettable memories: the difficulties were so numerous that they seemed insurmountable, but thanks to the attention of the Party committee, the government, and especially the dedication and aspiration of the teachers to impart knowledge, the small school remained resilient. In the midst of hardship, the people's trust in the school was gradually built, supporting the teachers on their journey of sowing the seeds of knowledge.

With expansion and investment in infrastructure, Ta Phin school seems to have been infused with new life. Sturdy classrooms have sprung up amidst lush greenery, learning materials are increasingly available, and the educational environment is being cared for every day. As a result, the school has become more stable and developed steadily, with the number of classes and students increasing year after year.
Currently, the school has 31 dedicated teachers and staff members who are guiding 497 students across two campuses. They are teachers who have devoted their youth to the blackboard and chalk, treating their students like their own children and viewing the school as their second home. Many teachers have received the title of excellent teacher and outstanding worker; for many consecutive years, the school has been recognized as an "Advanced Labor Collective".
Former teacher Nguyen Thi Thuy recalled the time when the school faced numerous difficulties: despite the shortages, teachers and students did not lose heart. Through perseverance and a sense of responsibility, they maintained student enrollment, improved the quality of teaching, and laid the foundation for the school's growth to what it is today.

Come the season of sweet fruits
Keeping pace with the changes in Sinh Phinh, Ta Phin Ethnic Boarding Primary School has also risen strongly. Generations of students who have graduated from this school continue to uphold the tradition of studiousness. The percentage of students completing the primary school program has consistently reached 100% for many years; the promotion rate to the next grade is almost absolute. The percentage of students achieving good and excellent results in subjects according to Circular 27 remains above 20%; the number of students winning prizes in district and provincial level competitions has increased each school year.
Mr. Mua A Thao – a former student – shared that his time studying in Ta Phin instilled in him a strong will to overcome difficulties and a love of knowledge. This is also something that today's students are continuing to nurture.
Chang Thi Linh, a student in class 5A4, spoke about her dream with a radiant look in her eyes: "In this final year of middle school, I will try my best to study well so as not to disappoint my teachers."
Long-serving teachers at the school continue to quietly dedicate themselves, effectively implementing movements such as "Studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh ," and "Every teacher is a role model of self-study and creativity," building a friendly learning environment where every child grows up in love and is encouraged to develop.

Continuing the 70-year journey
Looking to the future, the school continues to innovate its curriculum and teaching methods; focusing on holistic education and fostering students' self-learning and creativity. Principal Nguyen Trung Nghia affirmed that this is a continuous task, aligned with the spirit of Resolution 29 on educational reform.
The school also prioritizes building a team of competent and dedicated teachers; and strengthens coordination with local Party committees, authorities, departments, organizations, and the people to create a combined force for the cause of nurturing future generations.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Sinh Phinh commune, Mr. Nguyen Cong Tru, assessed that Ta Phin Ethnic Boarding Primary School has been a source of trust for parents over the past 70 years. He hopes the school will continue to uphold its traditions, achieve many new accomplishments, contribute to raising the intellectual level of the people, cultivating human resources, and illuminating the future for children in the highlands.
For seventy years, this small school at the foot of the mountain has weathered countless seasons of rain and sunshine. And for just as long, the teachers here have persistently kept the flame of knowledge burning, so that each generation of students can confidently step out into the wider world from this beloved school.
