Nguyen Quoc Khanh was born in Nghia Dan (Nghe An) and had a special interest in Information Technology when he was in high school. To pursue his passion, he passed the entrance exam to Hanoi University of Science and Technology and at the end of his second year, he chose Software Technology.
During his time at university, he did internships in many places to gain practical experience in his chosen industry, and once collaborated with a company to build the game “Who is a Millionaire” – one of the first Vietnamese games on the market at that time.
After graduating, the young man quickly started working at Viettel, FPT and Zalo Vietnam. After that, he gradually nurtured his dream of working abroad...
To realize that dream, Nguyen Quoc Khanh thought about finding a scholarship to study abroad for a master's degree and then finding a job opportunity for large technology corporations in the country. He decided to quit his job at Zalo to return to his hometown to improve his knowledge and foreign languages.
Although he knew that achieving the IELTS standard while his English was still too weak and finding a scholarship to study abroad was not an easy task, Khanh believed that if he tried, he would achieve it. He started learning English from scratch with available resources online. During that time, he studied English up to 12 hours a day, practicing his listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. After only one month, his English ability improved significantly.
“Sweet fruit” came to Nguyen Quoc Khanh when one day he received an email from Amazon Corporation inviting him to work as a software engineer at its headquarters in Vancouver, Canada. Before he could find a scholarship to study abroad, the opportunity came to him like a dream.
With his self-improved English, Nguyen Quoc Khanh successfully passed Amazon's interview rounds and received a job in early 2018 with many good benefits.
When he started working at Amazon, Khanh founded a group to share his experience in the recruitment process and some knowledge needed when participating in recruitment. Thanks to that, when Amazon held interviews in Thailand, seven out of eight of his friends were also accepted. At the end of 2018, after nearly a year of working at Amazon, he won the Best Engineer award among more than 30 software engineers. Integrating and living a useful life with the community.

Currently, Nguyen Quoc Khanh has moved to a new job at Uber. The experience of working and living in Canada has made the Vietnamese guy realize many differences between the working environment in Canada and Vietnam.
He shared that he learned a lot while working in Canada. Canadians know how to optimize their working time, prioritize the most important things, and do not need to work overtime but still achieve high efficiency. In addition, the balance between life and work is also highly valued by the people here.
Talking about his success, Mr. Khanh said that in any job, as long as you know how to set goals, try your best to achieve those goals, plus a little luck, you will succeed.
In particular, at large companies like Amazon and Uber, he saw firsthand the impact of work results on consumers. In addition, large companies often have a clear process for software development. Although it will take more time than companies in Vietnam, the sustainability and the possibility of success when launching to the market are very high.
Not only is he a talented software engineer, Nguyen Quoc Khanh also always tries to contribute to the community in many ways.
In early 2021, he joined the STEAM For Vietnam project - an interesting project of engineer Tran Hung, founder of GotIt. Here, he plays the role of a classroom teacher, compiles the curriculum and teaches programming to children.
In addition, he also founded a group called SDE Hoi, which specializes in discussing recruitment issues for large technology corporations such as Amazon, Google, Facebook, Microsoft... and has helped many Vietnamese engineers find job opportunities at Big Tech.
Although satisfied with his current job, Nguyen Quoc Khanh still dreams of creating his own business and developing software products that benefit people's lives. He is also developing his personal YouTube channel (Ken Nguyen) to spread values and share practical experiences with young people who have the same dream as him./.
