Nguyen Tat Thang – The person who connected the construction of 119 new houses for people in the highlands of Ha Giang

BHG - These days, all over Ha Giang province, efforts are being made to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor. Along with the State budget to support people in eliminating temporary houses, Youtube channel Nguyen Tat Thang has also had his own way to connect with benefactors and philanthropists at home and abroad to support. Up to now, after 6 years of connection, Mr. Thang has helped 119 households in the highlands of Ha Giang have new, solid houses. His work is a living proof of compassion and community spirit.

The houses with blue corrugated iron roofs in Hau Chua village (Giang Chu Phin) were connected by Youtuber Nguyen Tat Thang to support the construction of houses for the people.

We met Mr. Thang on a hot summer day, while sipping a cup of tea, Mr. Thang shared: “I was born and raised in Tuyen land (My Bang commune, Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province). In 2008, after graduating from professional school, I was recruited to work at the Meo Vac District Cultural Center. During 11 years as a cultural and information officer (from 2008 to 2019), I went to all the villages and hamlets of the district to propagate to the people to understand the Party's policies and the State's laws. It was also during this working period that I understood more about the difficult life of the people in the Meo Vac highlands.”

After each propaganda trip, Mr. Thang met more families in difficult circumstances, living in temporary, dilapidated houses, lacking living conditions. However, knowing is one thing, but helping people is a much more difficult thing, because with the meager salary of a cultural officer, it is beyond his power.

Support people in San Seo Ty village (Khau Vai) to build rural concrete roads

Traveling a lot, seeing the rich material in the Meo highland district, in 2019, Mr. Thang boldly opened a Youtube channel to promote the image of the highlands, reflecting the difficult life of the old lady in the most authentic way. Through his Youtube channel, domestic and foreign audiences have known him and connected with him to support and help households in difficult circumstances to have new, more solid houses. Besides, there are also Youtuber channels such as: Youtube channel Pham Dung, SapaTV, Xe Dau Keo, Thao Mi Linh ... accompanying Mr. Thang to connect to build houses for people.

We went to Hau Chua village, Giang Chu Phin commune, Meo Vac district, where Giang Mi Po's family is, one of the households in difficult circumstances that Thang connected with benefactors to build a new house for. Po's eyes lit up with joy and gratitude as he shared: "My family has 2 siblings, our parents died early so we had to rely on each other to survive. We don't even have enough to eat, let alone have money to build a house. Thanks to the support of benefactors, the help of the people and Thang's help, my family can now live in a new, solid house like today. I am very happy. I am very grateful to everyone."

Thanks to his perseverance and reputation, from 2019 to now, Mr. Thang has mobilized resources to build 119 solid houses (hard roof, hard floor, hard wall) for people in Meo Vac, Bac Me, and Vi Xuyen districts. In 2024 alone, he has connected to support people in Meo Vac district to build 33 new houses, mainly in the villages: Hau Chua (Giang Chu Phin) 10 houses; San Seo Ty (Khau Vai) 6 houses; San Si Lung (Can Chu Phin) 6 houses; Quan Xi (Lung Pu) 12 houses... Each family with a newly built house is supported with 60 - 80 million VND, the rest is contributed by the family and the construction effort.

Not only connecting to build 119 new houses for the people, Mr. Nguyen Tat Thang also connected to build 12 bridges for communes in Vi Xuyen district, 6 rural concrete roads in Meo Vac district, 2 cultural houses in Bac Me district along with hundreds of buffaloes, cows and many other valuable gifts for people in difficult circumstances in the highland districts in the province. In addition, he regularly organizes activities to honor heroic martyrs, supports people to eliminate bad customs, guides highland youth to access social networks and live positively, repels child marriage and incestuous marriage...

With his contributions to the community, Mr. Nguyen Tat Thang is a typical example of studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style. His efforts have been awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in the movement "Joining hands for the poor", a Certificate of Merit for digital communication work to spread the image of Ha Giang on digital platforms and a Certificate of Merit by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society .
