On May 27, a representative of Nha Trang Bay Management Board said that the unit has temporarily set up coastal zoning lines to protect Hon Chong coral reef.

According to the Nha Trang Bay Management Board, the temporary rope installation will take place between 4-6pm, from May 26 to 29. These are the last and first days of the lunar month, when the tide recedes to reveal coral reefs and seagrass beds, making it easy for locals and tourists to access offshore coral reefs, causing damage.

This is also the peak time for locals and tourists to swim and have fun at Hon Chong beach area with preserved coral reefs.

Therefore, according to the management board, the rope is intended to limit the access of curious locals and tourists, trampling, taking pictures, and fishing.

In addition, Nha Trang Bay Management Board also arranged a propaganda team to raise awareness and answer people's questions about coral reef conservation in Hon Chong sea.

Nha Trang City People's Committee has placed notices prohibiting entering coral reefs, seagrass beds, and fishing in Hon Chong sea, with administrative fines for the above acts ranging from 50 to 100 million VND.

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , on May 23, the social network TikTok spread a nearly 1-minute clip with the content "No need to go far, no need for a tour - you can still see fish and coral right at Hon Chong beach, Nha Trang". The clip recorded the process of diving to see coral, sea urchins, and fish.

"This is Hon Chong, one of the familiar check-in spots in Nha Trang, but not everyone knows. Right here you can also dive and watch fish swimming in the clear water to the bottom" - the male TikToker said in the clip.

As soon as the clip went viral, many people expressed outrage and said that the male TikToker should not have made and widely disseminated the clip with the content of diving to see coral at Hon Chong.
