Bao Thang Traditional House (formerly Bao Thang District Traditional House) is a cultural project inaugurated in October 2023 - on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the old Bao Thang District Party Committee. The project has an area of 625 m², with about 200 valuable artifacts, images and documents divided into reasonable thematic sections. Black and white photos, ancient maps, artifacts associated with the daily life and fighting of the army and people here. In particular, the traditional house also preserves a number of "national treasures", such as the Gia Phu Bronze Drum discovered by people in 2019 in Gia Phu commune... All contribute to recreating the ancient land with a long history and rich culture.
Coming to Bao Thang Traditional House, people and tourists not only admire valuable artifacts but also have the opportunity to feel more deeply about the development journey of their homeland. Bao Thang Traditional House can be likened to a miniature museum, where the traditional historical and cultural values of the nation converge. Every day, the traditional house is open from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., serving tourists and local people to visit and learn. This place has also become an ideal destination for educational activities on local cultural and historical traditions.
We often take students to the Traditional House for hands-on experience. This is an ideal place to educate about local history and culture. Not only can students learn from books, but they can also see valuable artifacts and documents with their own eyes, thereby understanding more about their homeland.
Such tours have left a deep impression on students, arousing national pride and fostering love for their homeland.
This is the second time I have been to the Traditional House to experience with my teacher and friends. I find it very interesting; seeing with my own eyes the living and working utensils, the combat weapons of our ancestors in the past, and hearing stories about the history of the formation and struggle of my homeland, I feel very proud. I will strive to study well to contribute to building my homeland in the future.
Every year, Bao Thang Traditional House welcomes over 6,000 visitors to experience, mainly students, political students in and outside the province; international tourists from Yunnan (China) or Korea... That number not only reflects the attraction of this cultural space but also shows the important role of Bao Thang Traditional House in spreading local historical and cultural values to the community.
To maintain the effective operation of traditional houses, the management and preservation of artifacts are always focused on. Ms. Nguyen Thu Huong - Director of the Bao Thang Regional Culture - Sports and Communication Center said: "We always strive to maintain the effective operation of traditional houses. Artifacts are carefully preserved, and the display space is regularly renewed."
Bao Thang Traditional House is not only a place to preserve memories but also a reliable address to educate local culture and history for the young generation. From here, the young generation is motivated to study, contribute and traditional cultural values are preserved and promoted, to move towards a bright future for the land of Bao Thang, rich in tradition.
