In order to ensure compliance with reality and development requirements, on June 14, 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the review and adjustment of some contents of the 2018 General Education Program. The adjustment takes place in the context of the whole country rearranging administrative units according to Resolution 202/2025/QH15, directly affecting the subjects: History and Geography (grades 4, 5, 9), Geography (grade 12), History and Economic & Legal Education (grade 10).
The updated content includes place names, data, maps, socio -economic information, minimizing changes to textbooks and increasing instructions for teachers to proactively implement.
Regarding the revision of textbooks after the arrangement of administrative boundaries and the application of the two-level government model, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Tung, Member of the Board of Members, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Education Publishing House, said that the Publishing House has directed member units to organize manuscripts and the Editorial Boards to review and compile content on requirements, knowledge, data, place names, maps, charts, socio-economic information, related to changes in administrative boundaries and two-level government, and then report to the Ministry of Education and Training for guidance on adjustments.
After the Ministry of Education and Training issues the revised and updated content in the curriculum of a number of subjects as announced on June 14, 2025, the Vietnam Education Publishing House will proceed to edit textbooks and submit them to the Ministry of Education and Training for review and approval according to the correct procedure.
Mr. Tung said that the revision of textbooks is carried out on the principle of closely following the requirements, fully updating knowledge, data, place names, maps, charts and socio-economic information, while minimizing changes to the original content. Teaching methods and content continue to be improved towards developing students' qualities and abilities.
"Vietnam Education Publishing House has organized the compilation of domestic textbooks to approach the quality of books from other countries in the world. We focus on scientific and modern standards," Mr. Tung emphasized.
While waiting for textbooks to be adjusted and updated according to administrative boundaries and two-level government, under the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training, teachers and students will continue to use current textbooks.
At the same time, the Publishing House is responsible for proactively selecting and adjusting teaching materials, lessons, and topics to suit local realities and the two-tier government model. In the coming time, the Ministry of Education and Training will issue documents directing and guiding localities and schools to implement the program continuously, without interruption, and in accordance with reality.
Mr. Tung also said that the Publishing House will actively support schools and teachers in using current textbooks in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Currently, textbooks for the 2025-2026 school year are continuing to be printed and stored for supply to schools. It is expected that by July, the textbook needs of students and teachers in the new school year will be basically met.
The 2018 General Education Program is built on the orientation of developing qualities and abilities, allowing for multiple sets of textbooks in one program. This creates conditions for schools to have the opportunity to choose to use a set of books suitable for teaching conditions and regional characteristics, while encouraging diversity and creativity in teaching and learning. In particular, textbooks of Vietnam Education Publishing House receive much support from teachers and students as they bring outstanding advantages in the teaching and learning process. In terms of content, compared to textbooks from other publishers, books from Vietnam Education Publishing House are compiled to ensure scientific, modern and practical qualities, focusing on core knowledge, easy to use in teaching practice. The lessons aim to develop students’ abilities and qualities, while closely combining with a system of practical and experiential activities, helping students acquire knowledge more proactively, creatively and with more interest in the learning process. In particular, the books also create opportunities for students to practice more, encourage self-study and develop independent and creative thinking. In terms of form, the book is presented aesthetically, attractively and suitable for the characteristics of the Literature subject. The book is printed in color with good quality paper, large format, clear font size, easy to read, and firmly bound. The system of illustrations in the book is diverse, vivid, harmoniously combined with the text channel, creating a visual effect, stimulating the imagination and passion for discovery of students. |
