Musician Duong Thu tells director: 'My music is for listening, not flashy, red or green'

Live concert Music Window No. 5 - The Returned Songs will take place on the evening of November 4 at Ho Guom Theater following the four previous Music Window shows . The audience will hear familiar and unfamiliar songs, new songs, and instrumental works composed by Duong Thu.

The musician told stage directors Vu Hong Thang and Nguyen Trung Quy that his music is “for listening, not watching, try not to be too flashy. This is a program that strictly limits everything other than music.”

The most painful thing for a musician is when he is still alive and people no longer listen to him. Music only lives in his ears, when it stops, he disappears.

Musician Duong Thu shared that the name of the concert is Autumn Song , but he is “not a person who describes seasons”. Seasons are just an excuse for music to be played. Autumn is the season when alluvium deposits, settles, becomes clearer, and the sky is also bluer. He said “my age now is the age when alluvium deposits”.

Life has many sorrows and pains, but he does not want to think about them. Instead, the musician likes to dream about blue skies, rivers, and spacious things. That is why he chose Autumn Songs to open and Fly into the Green Days to end this live concert.

For musicians, flying into the blue days to live with beautiful memories is also a way to "live".

Duong Thu said, “Even my sadness is different from other people’s, it is a strong sadness. In the song Give me a day , give me a day, just a day, a day without anxious waiting, a day without sad rain, a day without cold wind. Dreaming of just one day, but it is a very big dream.”

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online, Duong Thu shared that because of family circumstances and the times, he was not able to “live” his youth. Only later was he able to “live”, so he cherishes and loves life.

In this live concert, the musician wants the audience to live with him in the beautiful autumn mood, seeing everything beautiful and clear. That is Duong Thu's life dream and for him, the musician was born to love and write music to be loved.

There is a song by Duong Thu called Nightingale Sings in the Rain. When making the album White Clouds Fly Back, Quoc Trung arranged it very well and with great satisfaction, but when Thanh Lam sang it, the first part was good, but the second part, it didn't sound like a nightingale but more like an eagle. I had to give up!

Music Window No. 5 brings together voices associated with Duong Thu's music such as Thanh Lam, Hong Nhung, Bang Kieu, Khanh Linh, Vu Thang Loi, with the participation of Dao To Loan, Orange, Minh Duc.

When making the first Digital Music Window , Duong Thu named it window because life has things that cannot be opened wide. Secondly, not out of modesty, but because he respects differences and different tastes.

If his health permits, he will continue to open the window. It is his kindness to his audience.

Some people ask why don't you invite young artists, instead of Thanh Lam, Hong Nhung, Khanh Linh, Bang Kieu? Why doesn't Duong Thu include rap in his music? It sounds fun!

Duong Thu “didn’t dare invite young singers because he didn’t know them.” The artists above were attached to his music like a family. However, the artist was not “closed” but very open and respectful of new trends.

He once agreed to let Kimmese rap in Listening to Spring Comes , and even Den Vau asked for permission to sing his song For You One Day when this rapper was not famous yet.
