Xuan Phuong was born in 1973 in Hung Yen , graduated from the Vietnam National Academy of Music. He is famous for the songs Lullaby for Children, If We Must Be Separated and Wishful Thinking of Old Memories.

Xuan Phuong studied music since he was six years old, then entered the piano department of the Hanoi Conservatory of Music. After four years of studying, he transferred to the composition department, with his first work being the song Only in the Rain. The musician was one of the founders of the Golden Key band, which was famous in Hanoi in the early 1990s. With a youthful style, and collaborating with famous singers at that time such as Bang Kieu, My Linh, Ngoc Anh 3A, Golden Key was loved by the 7x and 8x generations.

Xuan Phuong also has the talent to compose many film soundtracks, the most famous being Mong uoc ky niem xua in Xin hay tin em by director Do Thanh Hai. After the song, he was invited by director Nguyen Huu Trong to compose the soundtrack for the film Song ngam. Seeing that the script was suitable for the song Neu phai xa nhau, he brought the song he composed 10 years ago to remix. For the film Cua de danh, director Do Thanh Hai took him to Trang Tien bookstore to buy poems to put to music. The song Loi ru cho con was born from a poem by author Van Thi Kieu Anh. More than a year later, he received a phone call from the author of the poem, praising the song.

During his lifetime, the musician said that Mong uoc ky niem xua was one of the songs that impressed him the most in his composing career. Xuan Phuong said: "When I composed this song, I was very young, about 23-24 years old. At that time, I had just graduated from school so I had a lot of emotions and memories. The lyrics and melody of the song seemed to be available in my head, my only task was to write them down into a complete song."

In recent years, he has lived a private life and rarely appeared in the media.
