The leader of Nam Dinh General Hospital said that the police are verifying the case of a medical staff member of this hospital being assaulted by a patient's family member.
Initial information, the incident occurred on the morning of May 4 at the Intensive Care Unit. According to the video , the man in black slapped and punched the male medical staff member repeatedly in the head and face. The incident only stopped when an elderly woman standing next to him intervened. Faced with the punches, the man in the white shirt held his face in pain and did not fight back.
"The man who assaulted the medical staff is the son of a patient who had been treated at the hospital for about 10 days. On the day of the incident, the patient's health deteriorated and he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit. When the patient's condition worsened, we performed emergency treatment and gave him a blood transfusion. However, the patient's prognosis was poor, so the family asked to take him home and he passed away that afternoon," the hospital leader added.
After the incident, the hospital reported the incident to the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health.
Previously, on May 3, at Nam Dinh General Hospital, there was a stir when people accused the doctor of being indifferent and demanding that the full deposit be paid before emergency treatment.
Specifically, baby MTA was run over by a homemade car while playing on the street. Mr. HTT (living in Nam Dinh City, a passerby) took the baby to Nam Dinh General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Due to the urgent situation, Mr. T. only brought 500,000 VND. Saying that he was just a passerby and did not have time to prepare much money, and that the patient's family was on their way to the hospital, Mr. T. asked the doctors to give emergency treatment to the child, but the medical staff insisted that he had to pay the full amount before taking the X-ray.
Too upset, Mr. T. posted information about the incident on social media. Many people expressed their anger at the on-duty team for being too indifferent and insensitive to the child's life.
Nam Dinh General Hospital admitted responsibility for the incident and temporarily suspended five medical staff, including doctors and nurses, for verification and clarification. These were all staff involved in the shift on May 3.
