On August 28, Ms. Vo Thi Minh Duyen - Deputy Director of Dak Lak Department of Education and Training - said that she had received information that some schools had "cumbersome" uniforms and had given instructions to correct them.
There are already 2 uniforms, now the school proposes 1 new set
Most recently, parents of a primary school in Tan Lap ward (Dak Lak) reported that at the beginning of the new school year, the school suddenly suggested that parents buy an additional new uniform for first graders, even though it had previously stipulated two sets of uniforms per week.
According to the old regulation, students wore brown pants or skirts with white shirts (VND 270,000/set) on Mondays and major holidays.
On other days wear dark pants, white shirt, and gym uniform including jacket and hat.
However, at the beginning of this year, the school introduced a new uniform model of blue pants and yellow shirt to wear on weekends and extracurricular activities.
Notably, the notice sent to parents on August 11 caused many parents to buy blue/black pants and white shirts for their children. "The school notified late, causing waste because parents had already made enough uniforms in advance," said one parent.

Discussing this issue, the school principal admitted that there were shortcomings in adding new uniform regulations without fully consulting parents.
She said that in previous years, during extracurricular activities, many parents bought different outfits for their children, leading to a situation where each class and each student had a different style. The school wanted to have a common uniform to create a more uniform and professional image.
"However, this is just a proposal for first graders, not a final decision. We will hold a parent meeting at the beginning of the year to get their opinions. If parents do not agree, the school will not implement it," the principal pledged.
Some readers and parents also reported that schools provide school bags, logos, scarves, gym shirts, etc. with their own brands. This also makes parents confused and wasteful when the back-to-school season has many expenses to pay...
Uniform should be simple, worn once a week
Previously, Tuoi Tre Online reported that Ly Tu Trong Primary School in Ea Drang commune also caused a stir when it changed its uniform color continuously for three consecutive years.
Parents reacted because it was too complicated, difficult to remember and expensive. After the feedback, local authorities requested to stop the implementation, the school also committed to not adding new models and to refund the collected money.

Regarding this issue, Ms. Vo Thi Minh Duyen - Deputy Director of Dak Lak Department of Education and Training - emphasized that wearing uniforms is currently implemented according to Circular 26 dated September 30, 2009 and Official Dispatch 6100 dated September 6, 2013 of the Ministry of Education and Training .
According to regulations, uniforms are intended to create equality and build a cultural learning environment, but are not required every day. Students only need to wear uniforms once a week if their parents request it.
The uniform design must be simple, stable, age-appropriate, approved by the school board and agreed upon with the parents' representative board. Families can buy the design themselves, the school cannot arbitrarily change or force students to make new ones at the beginning of the school year.
"Over the past years, educational institutions in the province have basically implemented the regulations correctly. However, some places are still confused and do not fully understand the regulations. At the beginning of each school year, the department issues documents reminding, instructing and requiring immediate correction if any incorrect cases are discovered," said Ms. Duyen.
