Many high schools in Hanoi directly admit 10th graders with IELTS 5.5 or higher

Archimedes Academy High School (Cau Giay, Hanoi ) offers a direct admission plan to grade 10 for students with IELTS from 5.5 or higher. If they achieve 6.5, they will receive a scholarship of 40 million VND/year and if they achieve 7.0, they will receive a scholarship of 50 million VND.

The general requirement for all three IELTS scores is that the average Math score in grade 9 is not less than 8.

In addition to accepting IELTS results, Archimedes School also directly admits students who have won excellent student awards at the district level or higher. The highest scholarship is up to 500 million VND for three years, applied to candidates who have won first prize in excellent student awards at the provincial and city levels in Math, Science , Physics, Chemistry and English.

If students do not meet the direct admission requirements, they will take the entrance exam on March 10 with three subjects: Math, English and Literature. The admission score is the total score of the three subjects, in which Literature and Math have a coefficient of two.

Le Quy Don Secondary and High School (Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi) announced the recruitment of 180 students for grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year by two methods: direct admission and considering academic records.

With the direct admission method, the school considers candidates with excellent student achievements at district level or higher; IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 65 points; won medals in Math, English and Science and Technology exams of international units or organized by the Department, Ministry of Education and Training ; achieved good academic performance, good conduct.

Le Quy Don Secondary and High School enrolls students in two phases. Phase 1 starts from tomorrow until June 20. If there are still vacancies, the school will enroll in phase 2 from June 30 to July 20.

Nguyen Sieu Secondary and High School (Yen Hoa, Cau Giay) announced that its quota for grade 10 this year is 270 students. The school does not directly recruit students with IELTS, but said that a certificate of 6.0 or higher is one of the conditions for priority admission.

Students applying for grade 10 at the school will take the Math, Literature and English proficiency test, scheduled for mid-April. After that, if there are still places available, the school will consider the grade 10 exam results in the exam organized by the Department of Education and Training.

Last year, Newton Secondary and High School reserved 450 10th grade quotas, with priority given to candidates with Good or Excellent academic records; IELTS certificate from 5.5; achieved test scores according to the school's own test; and won excellent student awards at district or higher levels.

Tay Ha Noi High School recruits talented students at the provincial and city levels, students with an average score of 8.0 or higher in the 10th grade public entrance exam, and students with a valid IELTS certificate of 6.5 or higher.

Students with a qualified IELTS certificate will also receive a 20% discount on tuition fees for the first year and 5% on tuition fees for subsequent years if their average English score is 8.0 or higher.

Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School directly admits students from 1 of 2 groups: Students with IELTS certificate from 6.5 and excellent students in 4 years of secondary school; students who have won third prize or higher at city level in math, physics, chemistry, literature, English. This method is also applied to Tan Trieu campus (Thanh Tri, Hanoi).

Last year, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School recruited students using two methods: 10th grade entrance exam scores organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and academic records.

The quota for considering transcripts is very limited. Students with IELTS scores from 5.5 or TOEFL Junior from 880 will be considered for transcripts with the condition of having 5 semesters of secondary school with excellent academic performance.
