Audiences still like to watch football on TV
According to the Global Euro 2024 report by TGM Research (a multinational online research organization), 62% of fans worldwide will watch the Euro 2024 finals through television broadcasts.
This figure is significantly concentrated in the middle-aged and older age groups, with 76% of viewers aged 55 and over and 71% of viewers aged 45-54 planning to watch the games on television at home. This preference underscores the enduring appeal and reliability of traditional television programming.
In contrast, younger fans are more digitally oriented. Around 32% of young people surveyed said they would watch matches via online TV channels or apps. This preference is particularly strong among the 18-24 age group (36%) and the 25-34 age group (37%).
The convenience and flexibility that streaming services offer makes them an attractive option for younger audiences, who are more tech-savvy and accustomed to watching content on demand. As a social event, many fans choose to watch Euro 2024 matches in public places such as bars or cafes.
Research data shows that 30% of football fans will gather in public places to enjoy the matches. This creates a vibrant and communal match-watching atmosphere.
This trend is particularly prominent among the 25-34 age group (31%) and the 35-44 age group (33%). The shared experience of watching football in public not only heightens excitement but also fosters a sense of community among fans.
