Chau Phu is the place that marked the heroic battles of Gia Nghi militia under the leadership of Quan Co Tran Van Thanh. According to the historical process, each generation continued the patriotic spirit of their ancestors who fought bravely and sacrificed in the resistance war against French colonialism and American imperialism, contributing to the cause of national liberation and national unification. Through the long resistance war, many layers of blood and bones of heroes and martyrs fell, so that today's generation can have a peaceful life under a spacious roof, next to immense rice fields full of grain, along with straight inter-commune roads, newly built schools resounding with children's voices. The peace and unity achieved over the past 50 years always remind today's generation to strive to preserve and develop.
Respectfully and gratefully for the contributions of previous generations, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the consensus of the entire political system and the people, Chau Phu district has made efforts to build and develop its homeland. Chau Phu today has gradually transformed itself, when the collective economic model, applying high technology, has been built in the agricultural sector. Large fields, specialized areas for high-quality rice, clean vegetables, specialty fruit trees... have been widely replicated. Up to now, the value of agricultural land production of the district has reached 217 million VND/ha, the average income per capita has reached 74 million VND. Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, Chau Phu district has 8/11 communes meeting new rural standards, 3 communes meeting advanced new rural standards.
Like other localities in the country, April in Chau Phu district is not only a time to commemorate the contributions of families with meritorious services and people with revolutionary contributions, but the activities taking place during the month also affirm the responsibility of "Repaying gratitude". The efforts to build the homeland of today's generation are always a parallel, inseparable "beat". The tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" of the nation is demonstrated through practical actions, such as: Visiting and giving gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, families with meritorious services, war invalids, and people with revolutionary contributions.
The work of "Repaying gratitude" is being carried out with attention.
Meetings between local leaders and families of policy beneficiaries not only show gratitude, but are also an opportunity to listen to old stories, helping young people understand more about the value of peace, independence, and freedom. Implementing the Program to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses, in 2024 and the first months of 2025, Chau Phu district built and repaired 49 houses for families with meritorious services. The spacious houses built are warm homes, shelter from the rain and sun, and places to preserve faith in a society full of love and responsibility.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the People's Committee of Chau Phu district organized a meeting with over 100 delegates who are people with meritorious services to the revolution, war invalids, relatives of martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and former leaders of the district through the periods. "This is an opportunity to review the glorious golden history of the nation in the struggle for independence and freedom; to remember and express deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces and those who have devoted and sacrificed for the independence and unification of the Fatherland. Thereby, arousing and promoting the spirit of patriotism, national pride, and responsibility of today's generation for the cause of protecting and building the Fatherland" - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Chau Phu district Nguyen Phuoc Nen affirmed.
Continuing the patriotic spirit of the previous generation, today's generation is always aware of the value of peace exchanged with blood. Therefore, Chau Phu district youth always promote the spirit of volunteerism, actively participate in the "Repaying gratitude" activities, contributing to building an increasingly rich and beautiful homeland. Activities such as visiting and giving gifts to families with meritorious services, taking care of martyrs' cemeteries, building rural bridges, building roads, planting trees, etc. are actively participated in by many union members and youth. These meaningful activities not only show deep gratitude to the previous generation, but also affirm the role and responsibility of youth in the cause of local development.
From taking care of the material and spiritual life of policy families, Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, wounded and sick soldiers, to renovating martyrs' cemeteries... it has shown the deep gratitude of the Party Committee, government and local people to those who sacrificed and contributed for national independence and for the happiness of the people.
