At some schools in the highland communes, on October 20th, there were no congratulations, no meetings, only the sounds of students reading their lessons, the sound of mortars pounding corn in the early morning mist. There, the teachers still persevered in their villages and schools, overcoming long distances between the mountains and forests to get to class. They did not have any bouquets of flowers, but the bright smiles of their students were the most meaningful gifts.

Teacher Dang Thi Liem, a teacher at Phja Vieng Primary School, Thong Nong Commune, said: Due to the impact of storms 10 and 11, students had to stay home from school. Today is the 20/10 holiday, but my colleagues and I still went to class to make up for the program, so the holiday took place like any other day. For me, the joy does not lie in the congratulations or the colorful bouquets of flowers, but in the fact that students attend school regularly and make progress.
On the high slopes, mothers and sisters still carry corn, firewood, and their entire lives on their small shoulders. They start their day before sunrise and end when it is already dark. For them, October 20th is just a day like any other, still farming, still cooking, taking care of children, and taking care of the family. Their joy is so simple that just a good harvest and children going to school is enough to make them happy.
Ms. Luc Thi Sao, Nguyen Binh commune shared: These days, it is no different from any other day. I still go to the fields, cook, and take care of my children. Sometimes, when some sisters in the village meet and talk happily, I feel warm inside. I just hope that my children will study well and have a better life, that is enough to make me happy.

In the bustling city, where people are bustling back and forth, there are still women who work silently. They are the sanitation workers diligently sweeping each street, the night shift workers in the factory, the women who sell in the market until late at night. They do not have time to stop to receive a bouquet of flowers, nor do they think about who will wish them “Happy October 20th”. For them, a day of peaceful work, of returning home safely, is the most precious gift.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, an urban sanitation worker, shared: These days, there is more garbage than usual. People go out and have parties, I work a little later, but I am used to it. For many years now, I have not had a day off on October 20th.
Perhaps, those quiet women are always persistent and give love in their own way. They do not need to be honored with bouquets of flowers, but with understanding, sharing and respectful looks from those around them.
October 20 is an occasion for society to express gratitude to women, but it is also a time for us to remember the women who have never had this day for themselves, those who have worked hard and contributed silently. From remote mountainous areas to crowded cities, they all carry within themselves the common beauty of Vietnamese women: gentle, hard-working, and always resilient in all circumstances.
Someone once said that women in the frontier are like wild flowers, although not brilliant, they are persistent, strong and always fragrant in their own way. In the midst of a busy life, they are the support for the family, the one who keeps the fire burning in the home, the one who silently contributes to beautifying this life.

So, even without flowers or gifts, even without any wishes being said, they still deserve to be appreciated. Because every day they live, every action they do carries with it love and silent sacrifice.
On this Vietnamese Women's Day, when we send out our best wishes, let's remember that somewhere there are still women who are quietly working, raising children, and shouldering the burden of life. They don't have their own October 20th, but they are the ones who make this day more complete and meaningful.
