(BGDT) - Tourism activities in the province are making positive changes. The number of tourists coming to Bac Giang is constantly increasing. Tourist attractions, accommodation establishments, restaurants, functional agencies and authorities at all levels are making efforts to meet the food and accommodation conditions to "retain" tourists.

Many real services do not meet the needs

Although it was only completed in 2022, the resort “Homestay Coi Nguon” (area of 7,000 m2) in Dong Vanh 2 village, Luc Son commune (Luc Nam) welcomes dozens of visitors to experience/day. On weekends and holidays, the number of visitors here increases to hundreds of people.

Tourists experience at Homestay Coi Nguon tourist destination.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dong, owner of Homestay Coi Nguon, shared that to attract guests, his family invested nearly 10 billion VND to build 6 lotus-shaped wooden houses, self-contained, with air conditioning, each house has an area of 15-30 m2. In addition, Homestay Coi Nguon also built a community house of 90 m2 x 2 floors, 1 communal dining room (capacity of 60 people), swimming pool, 4 outdoor dining huts...

Guests can conveniently order food or rent a kitchen to cook for themselves. “The demand for guests booking rooms for dining and accommodation is high, but Homestay Coi Nguon can only serve a maximum of 150 guests per day,” said Mr. Dong.

It is known that Mr. Dong's family is contributing capital to build another tourist spot "The House by the Stream", an area of 1.2 hectares, about 1 km from Coi Nguon Homestay, along the Golden Water Stream, Dong Vanh 2 village. Currently, this tourist spot has completed phase 1 and put into operation. Thanks to the beautiful scenery, diverse local specialties, and many resort amenities with reasonable service prices, the number of visitors here is quite large.

At Khe Ro Eco-tourism Area, Na O Village, An Lac Commune (Son Dong), at this time, there are an average of 300 visitors coming to experience the area every day. On weekends, the number of visitors doubles because visitors want to experience bathing in the stream and immerse themselves in nature after hot days. According to Mr. Vu Ngoc Huan, Director of An Lac Commune Community Tourism Cooperative, most visitors only come and go during the day, and very few stay overnight here.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Bac Giang currently has 13 tourist areas and spots recognized as provincial-level tourist areas and tourist spots. The province has 250 households participating in tourism activities at 35 community tourism spots. Of which, 2 community tourism spots have just been recognized: Ban Ven, Xuan Luong commune (Yen The) and Bau Tien, Quy Son commune (Luc Ngan). Along with the above tourist spots, the remaining tourist areas and spots and more than 740 historical - cultural relics of the province that have been ranked are also attracting domestic and foreign visitors, especially during the lychee ripening season.

In the first 6 months of this year, the province welcomed an estimated 1.29 million tourists, an increase of 44.4%; revenue was estimated at VND690 billion, an increase of 26%, compared to the same period last year. However, the number of overnight guests was low, only about 15%, especially at community tourism sites. The reason was that food, accommodation, entertainment, infrastructure, and parking were still lacking; tourism products were few and of low quality; human resources and tourist transportation services did not meet the requirements...

Improve service infrastructure quality

The province currently has 445 tourist accommodation service establishments (an increase of about 20% compared to 2020), including: 1 4-star hotel, 10 3-star hotels, 8 2-star hotels, 21 1-star hotels, the rest are tourist motels with about 5,000 rooms. Compared to the number of visitors to Bac Giang in the first 6 months of this year and expected to continue to increase annually, this number of rooms is quite modest. Along with accommodation service establishments, the province currently has more than 1,200 food service establishments (excluding collective kitchens), but most of them are small-scale, located at the ward and commune levels, not meeting the needs of large groups of visitors.

Up to now, the province has basically formed and effectively exploited 4 key tourism spaces including: Hanoi - Bac Giang City - Luc Ngan - Son Dong; Tay Yen Tu tourism space associated with "The Path of Propagating Buddhism of the Truc Lam Yen Tu Buddhist Patriarchs" (Son Dong, Luc Nam, Yen Dung); community tourism space associated with the fruit and tea growing areas of Ban Ven (Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Tan Yen, Yen The); eco-tourism, resort and entertainment space associated with golf tourism (Yen Dung, Viet Yen, Luc Nam).

The province focuses on developing community-based tourism by implementing the Provincial Community-based Tourism Development Project for the 2022-2030 period. However, tourism development, especially community-based tourism, still faces many difficulties, such as: Limited planning; slow implementation of tourism investment projects; major strategic investors are only at the research and planning stage...

The province currently has 445 tourist accommodation service establishments (an increase of about 20% compared to 2020) with about 5,000 rooms; more than 1,200 food service establishments (excluding collective kitchens).

In order to exploit the potential and strengths of localities, continue to maintain and develop tourism in general and community-based tourism in particular in the coming time, it is necessary to have timely support policies, contributing to the implementation of the province's tourism development strategy goals. Along with other support resources, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is currently drafting a Resolution of the Provincial People's Council on Regulations on a number of support policies from the provincial budget for community-based tourism development in the province in the period of 2023-2030.

The draft includes support policies: Establishing detailed planning for community tourism sites; investing in building houses to welcome guests, display tourism products, agricultural and rural products; building houses with rooms for tourists to rent; building internal roads, building parking lots in community tourism sites; buying or building boats and electric cars to transport tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc, Head of the Tourism Management Department (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism) said that if the Resolution is passed, it is expected that each community tourism site will be supported with about 9 billion VND. With this funding source, the province strives for the period from 2023 to 2030 for community tourism sites to have synchronous technical facilities, meeting the standards for serving tourists. 100% of the management and direct service human resources will be trained in basic skills and expertise, meeting service requirements. Community tourism sites will have a variety of typical products and services, meeting the needs of customers, and will be widely promoted domestically and internationally, contributing to "retaining" tourists longer.
