"We had a disappointing debut match when we only drew, perhaps because we were too nervous because it was our first time participating in this playground. But today we played bravely and won our first victory. This is a source of pride for the whole RMIT University," said Vietnamese-Japanese player Hatsuoka Hiroki after the match where RMIT University beat Saigon International University (1-0) on the evening of January 11, at Ton Duc Thang University Stadium.

The victory of the RMIT University team was also contributed by the enthusiastic fans in the stands. There were about 300 fans of this school's football team cheering for the players on the field. This motivated the whole team, especially in the second half when the Saigon International University team tried to play offensively to find the equalizer.
