Recently, the authorities of many provinces and cities across the country have continuously discovered many cases related to counterfeit goods. Specifically, such as the case of the Ministry of Public Security's Investigation Police Agency dismantling a fake milk powder production, trading and consumption ring in Hanoi, with 573 brands of powdered milk for people with diabetes, kidney failure, premature babies and pregnant women, etc., earning nearly 500 billion VND. Or the case in Thanh Hoa province, the Economic Police Department of the provincial police has dismantled a large-scale fake medicine production and trading ring nationwide, with the total volume of fake medicine and raw materials for making fake medicine seized being nearly 10 tons. Or recently, Nghe An Provincial Police discovered and dismantled a chemical-soaked bean sprout production line. The forces seized nearly 2,000 jars of various bean sprouts with a total weight of about 25 tons, 25 liters of "candy water" chemical solution, 150 liters of mixed solution to serve the production of bean sprouts, and a number of other related exhibits.

Nowadays, consumers are worried about the increasing number of counterfeit goods. Especially for health-related products such as milk and medicine, the use of counterfeit goods can lead to serious consequences, even life-threatening. Many people believe that the increasing number of counterfeit goods makes them feel insecure and uneasy when shopping, especially when they do not have enough information to verify the quality of the product.

Provincial Market Management forces inspect milk products at a grocery store in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City.

Ms. Nguyen Mai Huong, in Kinh Dinh Ward (Phan Rang - Thap Cham City), said: Reading the news, I saw cases of fake milk, there were many rumors that fake milk was made from materials of unknown origin, so I did not dare to buy milk, because I did not know which was real. If I bought fake goods, it could affect my children's health.

Similarly, Mr. Minh Tuan, Phu Ha Ward (Phan Rang-Thap Cham City), shared: Recently, I have heard a lot about fake drugs being sold everywhere, including drugs to treat dangerous diseases. It is even possible that the drugs are fake but are still sold at very high prices. I am worried because fake drugs cannot cure diseases and can also cause dangerous side effects, but currently it is very difficult to distinguish between real and fake drugs, so I only know to find reputable stores with brands to buy.

Faced with the increasing situation of counterfeit goods, the provincial Market Management Department has strengthened inspection and handling of cases of production and trade of counterfeit and poor quality goods in the province. As a result, by the end of the first quarter of 2025, the provincial Market Management force had inspected 27 cases; detected and handled 12 violations. Thereby, contributing to stabilizing the market and protecting consumer rights.

Mr. Tran Kieu Hung, Head of the Provincial Market Management Department, said: Counterfeit goods, especially fake foods, can cause serious consequences for consumers' health, and can even lead to death if consumers accidentally use them. Counterfeit goods traders currently use many sophisticated methods to deceive consumers. One of the common tricks is to fake the packaging and labels of famous brands. They use materials similar to real products and even copy barcodes and anti-counterfeit stamps, making it difficult for consumers to distinguish. Another trick is to sell products at very low prices compared to the actual value of genuine products. These products are advertised as "special discounts" or "promotions". The cases that are most susceptible to fraud are consumers who lack information about the products or shop through unofficial channels. In the past, the Department has always closely coordinated with functional agencies to inspect and strictly handle violations. Through the inspection process, so far no establishments producing or trading fake milk have been discovered in the province, the businesses basically meet local demand. However, people also need to be vigilant when shopping, only buy goods at reputable establishments with operating licenses. Checking information such as barcodes, anti-counterfeit stamps, or looking up information on the manufacturer's official website is also very important. When detecting a product suspected of being fake, it is necessary to promptly report to the authorities for handling measures.

Walking around the milk market in Phan Rang - Thap Cham city, it shows that all stores have full prices and the milk has clear labels. Ms. Le Thi Bao Kim, owner of Vien Kim milk shop at Phan Rang market, said: The store only sells products in the traditional way, not online, the import of goods is strictly managed by me with reputable distributors and only genuine products are imported to ensure clean milk products and also regularly check stamps and labels to ensure no fake products enter the store.

The widespread trade and business of counterfeit goods in the market not only causes anxiety and insecurity but also seriously threatens the health of consumers. In the coming time, the provincial Market Management Department will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to strengthen inspection, supervision and strictly handle counterfeit goods traders. However, consumers also need to raise awareness and be cautious when shopping. Each consumer needs to pay attention to choosing products with clear origins, shopping at reputable stores to protect their own health and interests. In addition, businesses also need to comply with regulations on origin, origin and ensure product quality. Only then can we minimize and prevent the trade of counterfeit and poor quality goods and protect the rights and health of consumers.
