Where NCT continues to contribute and is well cared for

Recognizing its role and position, in recent years, the Hong Hai Ward Elderly Association has actively encouraged, motivated and created favorable conditions for the elderly to promote the spirit of "Old age - Bright example", continue to contribute their hearts, talents and minds to local political , economic, cultural and social activities. The most widespread contribution is that the elderly are allowed to participate in building the political system at the grassroots level, in which Party building and government building are the main and regular tasks... In 3 years (2021 - 2023), hundreds of members have participated in the work in the political - social system of the ward. Accordingly, there are 3 grassroots Party Committee members for the 2020 - 2025 term; 5 delegates of the 9th Ward People's Council (term 2021 - 2026); 29 Party Cell Secretaries, Ward Heads, Heads and Deputy Heads of the Ward Fatherland Front Work Committee; 94 Heads and Deputy Heads of Associations: Veterans, Elderly, Women, Red Cross; 29 Heads of Neighborhood Groups; 72 members participating in the Civil Defense Committee... Many elderly people hold 2 or 3 different positions, continuously for many years, such as: President of the Elderly Association and President of the Veterans Association; Party Cell Secretary and Head of Neighborhood; Head of the Elderly Association and Head of Neighborhood Group... Elderly people elected to hold positions have promoted their responsibilities, abilities, strengths, experiences, applied them specifically, and achieved high efficiency in assigned work.

Many exemplary members voluntarily donated a total of nearly 1,000 square meters of land, worth billions of VND, to build public works; at the same time, strictly complied with compensation and site clearance policies, proactively demolished architectural works on reclaimed land for projects, without demanding benefits or support. Members voluntarily donated to the "charity" fund to support localities, the "frontline" of Covid-19 prevention and control; supported people in countries affected by earthquakes and climate change, built charity houses for policy families, meritorious people, and the poor, amounting to hundreds of millions of VND; contributed thousands of working days to the "Green Sunday" movement, protecting the environment, maintaining security and order, and traffic safety in residential areas...

The elderly are not only cared for and given favorable conditions to participate in social work, but also cared for by the Association in terms of their spiritual and material lives. In 2023, the ward admitted 198 elderly people to the Association, striving to have over 80% of the elderly in the ward join the Association by the end of the 2021-2026 term; organized birthday celebrations for 287 people of the prescribed age; coordinated with the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ward Health Department to examine and give free medicine to 440 elderly people aged 80 and over, and sick people who cannot walk can come to their homes for examination and medicine. On the occasion of the Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam, on holidays and Tet, the Association organized visits and gave gifts to families of policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious services and elderly people who are sick for a long time and have difficulties in life; organized for members to visit historical and revolutionary relics, arousing pride in the country and people of Vietnam. 18 branches established 18 groups and teams of elderly artists, with hundreds of elderly "actors" regularly participating in practice, bringing songs and dances to serve the elderly and the community; participating in the Elderly Singing Festival organized by the Elderly Associations at all levels in the province. The movement of physical exercise and folk dance has developed widely, contributing to improving the physical and health of the elderly. Over the past 3 years, hundreds of members have been awarded by the Associations at all levels and local Party committees and authorities.

The dedicated, responsible and effective contributions of the elderly have contributed to the realization of Resolution VII (term 2021 - 2026) of the Elderly Association of Hong Hai ward, and at the same time contributed to the completion of the tasks of socio -economic development, ensuring security and national defense of the locality in recent years.
