According to silkworm farming households, this year, silkworm cocoons are of good quality, selling prices have increased, and consumption is favorable. Currently, silkworm cocoons are being purchased by associated units at 185,000 VND/kg, an increase of 10,000 - 15,000 VND/kg compared to the same period last year.


Bao Yen district currently has more than 54 hectares of mulberry trees, planted in the communes of Viet Tien, Xuan Thuong, Kim Son, Cam Con, Bao Ha. According to calculations, 1 hectare of mulberry for silkworm farming will yield 1.7 - 1.9 tons of cocoons/year, with a selling price of over 180,000 VND/kg of cocoons, people will earn more than 300 million VND.


Bao Yen has identified mulberry as one of the main crops and encourages people to develop it. Along with planning the planting area, the district also has a policy to support seedlings to develop raw material areas and support breeds to develop the silkworm breeding industry.
In the coming time, the district will continue to promote the production chain between enterprises and producers; attract organizations and individuals to invest in deep processing of silkworm cocoons to meet market demand and increase farmers' income.
